Key Revolution details by March?

Industry magazine MCV UK has been tipped off by insiders that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata will divulge ´key details´ about the Revolution in less than seven weeks. Here´s their story:
MCV understands that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata is set to unveil some key details regarding the enigmatic next-gen Revolution console at the Games Developers Conference in March.

Though many have presumed that all new information would be kept under wraps until E3 in May, senior sources suggest Iwata will choose to make key announcements, possibly including pricing and release details, earlier.

With a Nintendo Europe press release this week reaffirming that Revolution is still on track for a European launch this year, this news puts more pressure on Sony, whose continued silence is reducing the likelihood of a 2006 European release for PS3.
The Game Developers Conference will take place from the 20th to the 24th of March in San Jose. Whether Iwata will be present or not is not yet confirmed. The list of keynote speakers will be posted here, most likely within the next few days. It was promised by January and is thus long overdue.

On the phone, the MCV editors felt very confident that their source was reliable but, obviously, declined to give any more details. It is important to bear in mind here that MCV is the leading industry magazine in many important markets, including Germany and the UK. In the past, their inside sources proved extremely reliable.

Hmph... That doesn't mean good things for D.I.C.E. Summit next week. Dang!

Hi Yankeehkm: It´s no huge surprise that there will be news at GDC. I would have guessed the same, but this isn´t a guessing blog. ´No End Soon´ is as fake as Cher´s bum. Nothing can change that.

Hi Shoxware: Wait for it, there might be a little teaser at D.I.C.E. However, I have always said D.I.C.E. would not be host to huge news, simply because it´s an NOA only thing. If Iwata is confirmed at GDC, then we know for sure that there will be big news.

I don't get my hopes up for huge Revolution-News, but at least i want some Twilight Princess footage!

BTW, Falafelkid. Do you think the Virtual Console will ONLY be used, to download classic games from NES and co. or maybe some indie-games too like XBL Arcade? I think that would be awesome!

I already posed this question to NOA, but (oh, noone expected that) they can't give me an answer yet! But they like the idea (exactly mr. Bruce Mann from NoA)

GDC is an important event, and I look forward to it's arrival.

GDC is a cool event and hopefully will have some interesting stuff, but it will be nothing compared to E3. we may get a release date and price at GDC but i doubt we will learn any new features, specs or screen shots

Hi Arsenis. You are right. Of course that would pressure Sony, providing Nintendo name a release date before thanksgiving and stick to their simultaneous launch strategy (which the new NoE guy recently reaffirmed).

In fact, I think Nintendo will only release enough info before E3 as is strategically nevessary. Even if they are going to blow the lid off one of the remaining secrets at GDC, they´ll only do so to put pressure on the competition. They will surely save the best for lsat, to make sure that their E3 press conference rocks. The main reason being that the world´s media go to E3. And those that don´t go will have access to video footage and audio clips through agencies like APTN and Reuters. As soon as Nintendo let the cat out of the bag, they´ll want maximum publicity and you only get that at E3.

woow, a photoshopped DSLite with screenshots of mama's cooking (or whatever it's called) that were released earlier this week. Must be a hack of an NDA.

oooo. good job on the picture. If only you could do a little more halo recuction on the stylus. but the DSLite would indeed be quite the sexy machine in black.

Fal, what if it turns out that you are wrong about Inc and Rebus? What if they are real? What will you say/think then?

I like the new style to your blog Fala, but can you tell me why you have the dotted arrows pointing down?

Falafelkid said...

Thanks! But why the arrows? That´s just the font. I liked it, but no reason.
