Naka-San: "You will be pleasantly surprised."

News from Leipzig. This morning, I interviewed Yuji Naka, creator of Sonic. I asked him just how revolutionary the upcoming Nintendo console really was and he answered: "I am under a strict NDA, so I can´t really say much. But I have seen the Revolution and I think everyone will be very pleasantly surprised, when Nintendo reveal everything."

In a few days I will be able to view the tape and write down the entire answer he gave. But this excerpt is good news already. Sorry for the lack of posts while I´m at the Games Convention - but please hang on in there.

EDIT I just viewed the snippet again and that is all he said (well, his translator rather).

EDIT I understand some people are sceptical about my claims. Here is a still taken from the interview.

Hey, since you found this out, and I just checked Serious(Crappers blog) and hes saying it ready for lanuch and now you are saying that creator of Sonic has seen it and that we will be pleseantly suprised. So do you think he has been playing this flip-floping head games for a reason? You tell me, you have more knowledge on this than I do, I just work at EB Games.

Good news. =)

In other news (and pleasy don't lynch me for showing interest on this topic ;))... Falafelkid, as you in Leipzig, will you have any chance on finding out, how the Xbox360 will support USB-Sticks or other exchangable media?
I know it can read audio and video files from it, but can it actively use the storage space eg. for marketplace content, my xbox live profile or even custom soundtracks?

(If so, I might be interested in a 360 - of course, I need a proper base to place the Revolution on ;))

N-Game the movie..hackers, terrorists, strange phone calls...the best sci-fi action thriller of the century. wow.

That's good to know. I think we finally have some proof that Nintendo is forcing people to sign NDA'. There's also been a hell of a lot of Rev news from Matt at IGN.

oh man, that would be cool (drooling). when will it launch before or after the revolution. It would be great that the Revolution unveiling occured in a movie, specially in one like that. that would be, man!, just wow. I hope they make an incredibly high quality soundtrack.

Holy Shit! I haven't even read the comments here yet!

Yuji Naka=The fucking man. I hope like hell Sega is going to get on board with Revolution in a big way. Not just Sonic but Virtua Fighter too!! I'm flipping out!

The door is open for Nintendo. They can definitely sell more Revs than GameCubes if they get after it.

lol @ Microsoft for $50 controllers, btw.

good news!
at least someone has seen the controller and think it's great. If more and more developers find it interesting then exclusive games that take advantage of the revolutionary controller from big sh like konami, capcom, square-enix and sega will be not just a dream.
Hope new information will come soon. :)

this is a very interesting comment for kingkong developer micheal ancel,

Working on these consoles for this game and for the time we have to develop it, it's quite cosmetic...Which is important in this game, because shadows are important, and sound...but I think on 360 and PS3 games are not going to be completely different because interfaces are the same. If interfaces could be different then really new gameplay could appear"

i think he has seen the rev and he is happy.

This news is very refreshing. The fact that all the news around saying that important new will come soon on the Revolution is taking a load off my back. I am feeling confident that the news will come soon. And that make s me happy.

Great news, but still, Iwata's quotes from e3 2004 are even more encouraging.

"For both game creators and game players, a new machine needs to do much more. It must offer an unprecidented play experience, something no other machine has delivered before"

"I want you to know that nintendo is working on it's next system, and that system will create a gaming Revolution"

"When you see it, you will be excited, because you will experience a gaming Revolution"

If that dipshit SeriousGamer is right it'll be by coincidence and not design.

How do you figure? The only way he is "right" is if someone who knows is feeding him info. I'm sure that he is just part of a preliminary marketing campaign.

Hi everyone. Sorry for not posting a lot these days, but the fair has kept me busy somewhat. I also lost my PDA mobile (*sniff*) so I had very restricted internet access. Anyway, thank you all for your comments. I will have to address most of the specific ones later. To a number of people who are asking for some kind of proof, I entirely understand your requests. I could try to stream the interview snippets I recorded here and upload them somewhere for you to watch. However, the earliest I could get round to doing that would be in a week´s time. And we may have far more concrete quotes by then (hopefully). If not, I´ll try to upload them somewhere. Please excuse me for not addressing other comments - I just don´t have the time at the moment. But do check out Molyneux´s quote (latest post). It sounds equally good.

Do you understand the definition of "coincidence"? Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I have one question.
Why do you have an RTL2 microphone?
RTL2 is a german TV-station, is it posibble that this picture is from an interview made by RTL2 and not buy you.

Anonymous said...

FalafelKid...

Your name doesn't suit you.

You speak german, yet you love falafel an arabic dish....and why the kid at the end?

Somethings up...

Anonymous said...

Ahahah !

"your nickname doesn't sound very german, you must be a fake !"

Come on people, get a life.

This is probably the most objective and trustful blog about the Revolution. If you can't trust it, wait until Nintendo reveals everything and stop complaining.

The boards sort of messed up, I don't know if they'll come back. Some people were talking about that ^^^ and I was reading it when a bunch of comments disappeared.
