rs.ign.com unrelated

Since some people are still wondering whether rs.ign.com is related to the Nintendo Revolution: It is not. It is indeed related to Red Swoosh, a network solutions company.

I myself used to think ´rs´ might be an abbreviation of ´revolution system´, but then I found this page on the Wayback Machine (a long-term version of the Google cache, if you will). The page reads:

Q: What IS the IGN Downloader?

A: The IGN Downloader is software which greatly enhances the efficiency and speed of downloading IGN content for our users. It greatly improves the speed and quality of service we are able to give you. IGN Downloader can increase your download speeds dramatically, sometimes by as much as 200%

Red Swoosh, under testimonials, quotes IGN as saying:
Red Swoosh provided us with a robust Content Grid product that scales to handle our 10 million users, and our ambitious delivery goals.

So, the IGN downloader used to be an IGN service in collaboration with Red Swoosh. There you go. Proof.

Thanks for pointing that out. While I didn't believe that it was anything Rev-related, I just had no idea about what it could have been.

As for those spammers : can't you do something to have the blog ask to type some letters displayed in a box before posting ? It could help.

We know that it was the Red Swoosh site, but why is the House of The Dead 4 Video hosted there?

Too bad IGN is slower than snail mail when loading these days.

So thats what those Xfers05 are wow. It is a video host for IGN.

I find it rather clunky though my feeling is to just give people a simple way to the movies non of these jump through loops to get your content strategies.

Cause House of the Dead 4 will be on Revolution.

U.S. Revolution Launch Timeframe Narrowed
10/16/2005, 4:09am Eastern Time
The Nintendo Power Line, Nintendo's phone-based automated game tip service, has specified Revolution's launch date as the "latter half of 2006." Previously, the most accurate, officially stated launch date for Revolution was an ambiguous "2006" or "near" the competition's launch dates. Now, Nintendo of America has gotten more specific.

"As the company with the strongest heritage of innovation, Nintendo moves the bar for all next gen systems by employing a wide-ranging strategy that will attract more kinds of gamers to more kinds of games. When Nintendo's new console, codenamed Revolution, arrives in the latter half of 2006, everyone will discover the meaning of all-access gaming," the recording states.

If this timeframe proves to be true, and Sony's expected launch date of March 2006 occurs in the U.S., then Nintendo will definitely be the last next-gen console to launch for the third generation straight. For reference, the SNES launched a year after the Sega Genesis, the N64 launched one year after the PlayStation, and GameCube launched one year after PlayStation 2 and a mere 10 days after the original Xbox, but still last. With Revolution's distinctly different market objectives and controller, the effects a later launch date may cause are unpredictable at this point.

Some one say that Nintendo have 4 hidden power. 2 was used (Able to play old game , Controller). I think about Nintendo might reveal revolution's price (rumor 99$ that is one of hidden power) befor Ps3 launched or after sony reveal Ps3 price.

Hi everyone. Just posted the hotline story. It actually originated on Nintendo Now to my knowledge. Anyway, I just want to mention again that the PlayStation3 will be later than expected. Anonymous, I strongly believe that a US launch in March 2006 is illusory for Sony. The whole Blu-Ray debacle alone may have thrown production back by months, depending on what Sony plans to do about Blu-Ray losing ground to HD-DVD. I expect a Revolution launch in the later half of 2006 to still be on par with the PS3. There is no way Sony will launch before July, either.

Am I the only one who thinks that they're going to just call this system "Nintendo"? Seeing as it will offer a complete back catalog of their games, I wouldn't be surprised.
