Nintendo-Revolution down awhile

Now, this is a brief rumour round-up, as well as my last post before E3. I have just entered into a preliminary agreement to develop a concept for and then shoot a music video (I don´t just work as a game journalist, but also as a freelance producer for various kinds of projects). Part of the clip may be shot in Los Angeles just after E3, which is the reason for having to rush a first concept and storyboard.

Despite my intentions, this clip, alongside my regular work in the newsroom, will keep me so busy over the next few weeks that I will be unable to keep running this blog. Please appreciate that this is a professional project and this blog will simply have to take second place. Thanks for understanding - see you after E3!

Andreas

1.) (NO) END SOON

Mr. Inc´s blog is offline, finally. In a last-ditch effort they have published a silhouette of what looks like two game characters. Here is their last post in full, just for the record:

ATTENTION! NINTENDO VIRAL MARKETING HAS STARTED!!

I have to remove this blog within 24 hours after this post. I’ve still good connections with one member (friend)of the team which said they’ve been warned about the following thing!

ALL PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THE “APRIL FOOLES” THAT ARE COMING. THERE WILL PROBABLY BE A LOT REGARING REVOLUTION HARDWARE/GAMES, BUT ONE OF THOSE APRIL FOOLS IS ACTUALLY REAL AND IS BEING RELEASED BY NINTENDO UNDER AN ANNONYMOUSE NICKNAME AT IGN/N-SIDER NINTENDO FORUMS.

I’VE NOT BEEN TOLD WHAT EXACTLY THIS “APRIL FOOL” IS, BUT IT’S SUPPOSED TO FIT WITH MY PREVIOUS POST.

BE ALERT, NINTENDO’S VIRAL MARKETING HAS STARTED WHICH WILL BUILT UP THE HYPE LEADING ALL TO E3 2006 !!

Whether you hate me or No End Soon, the Nintendo fans will love this month.

Goodbye forever!

PS, please confirm to yourself at E3 this blog was actually REAL ->
REMEMBER AND COMPARE TO PICTURES AFTER E3 2006 !!
Look what uncle bad guy has in his hands!

PROBLEMS, SORRY . . . . . . .

Almost a brave decision to post a pic like that. With it, they will remove all doubt about them being impostors come May.

2.) Dubious interview about Zelda: Twilight Princess Rev controller features

Nintendo fan site The Hylia has apparently interviewed Eiji Aonuma, Zelda: Twilight Princess producer.

The game will be released closer to the Revolution launch, making it essentially a launch title. (...) You can control the sword and shield with the unique setup of the Revolution controller, allowing the player to experience combat in Zelda like never before. When you play the game on GameCube, the fighting mechanics are based in a third-person perspective. However, on the Revolution, the battles shift into a first person mode, which allows the player to really feel like they are dueling a foe rather than playing a game. You should see some of the boss battles in this mode.

Of course, you can use the controller to aim your bow, your hookshot or your boomerang, as well as some other items. The amount of force you use while handling the controller will also determine how far or fast your items go. There are also some puzzles specially developed on the Revolution version that will require the input from the Revolution’s controller. These puzzles will be solved a different way on the GameCube. (...) We’re still considering an online Zelda, either for DS or Revolution, but I can’t speak anymore about it at this time.

However, The Hylia has been offline for more than a day and the editors have not responded to my mails so far. The excerpts are courtesy of Codename Revolution. I mailed the site´s owner and this is the response I got:

I'm not allowed to talk about it. It's no longer up, that's all I can say without any futher consequence.

Sorry.

My guess here is that it was fake. No disrespect, but it´s unlikely a site like that would be able to secure such an interview.

3.) All the rest

This is where I am being overtaken by time constraints, unfortunately. I would have wished to be able to post in detail about Matt´s chore list in that IGN discussion and various other rumours going around, some of which are quite intriguing. But I simply can´t. Sorry. It was a pleasure serving you for so long (I only hope I have) and I am pretty sure that I can be back after E3 to tell you all about Revolution. In the meantime, please use my link list, which I believe to be rather comprehensive. And, if you would be so kind, please use the comments section to keep me up-to-date with any recent developments. Looks like the tables have turned now ;)

It IS a Devcontrlr. Notice the grey color. The lense is rounded instead of half-oval. There is no batterie pac. The black wire goes to the Devkit so no batteries are being used. It would have been weird to have the black wire hanging out of everyones hands, so we just threaded it through the shirts to cover it up for the photo shoot. Don't look too hard at something, you'd miss the really important stuff. ;)

Anonymous said...

don't what this wire is for, but I hope nintendo is making the cable bettween the both parts a bit longer.
Looks like you have to move both arms when you mkae big moves eith the revmote.

See the horizontal colored line at the level of the controller in 3 of the images?

Speculate!

wtf is wrong with you people? E3 isn't too far away - and yet you are arguing senseless topics with comments several pages long..

Fal proved that he is credible and he sure knows some stuff before most of us do (no reason to get arrogant because of that fal..) - and that's it. Why always this conspiracy bullshit on Nintendo blogs? Thats why Nintendo fanboys are often laughed about.

Just take it easy and wait for E3.. play some xbox360 in the meantime ffs..

"LucasArts Shows Off New Darth Vader Game
Apr 18, 2006 @ 3:06pm

Summary:
A New York Times story reveals a Darth Vader videogame from LucasArts

Full Text:
GameSpot is reporting that a New York Times article is suggesting that LucasArts is working on a Darth Vader videogame.
According to the story, the decades worth of untold stories between the close of Episode III and the start of A New Hope would make perfect fodder that LucasArts would like to get out in game form.

The New York Times claims that it received some sort of early demo of the new game from LucasArts VP of product Development Jim Hirschman, though no official game name or announcement has been made.

We'll keep you informed if we hear anything."

now we've heard a lot of things about a connection between George Lucas and the big N, could this be it? It would make for a VERY interesting game with the controller.

The report stated that although they recieved some early demo, they leave out what console (or P.C) it is, and this is the "new york times" newspaper. What i am led to believe is a VERY big newspaper in america. That would show extremely shoddy journalism to leave out the name of the console, unless they weren't allowed. NDA anyone?
also that no game has officially been announced. again NDA seems to be peeking around the corner.
I know that its all theory but this is a speculation site, so cut me some slack. ;)

excellent post bunnyoku!

after a tiny bit of sniffing about the bins at the new york times office for some more info, i thought it would a better idea to look at their website and found the original article

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/17/technology/17lucas.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1

if it doesn't work just go to their home page and search for "darth vader."

it's mainly PR, but at the end of the article, bottom of the 2nd page, there is an interesting paragraph

"Mr. Hirschmann later demonstrated a test game, shouting and jumping each time a storm trooper tumbled onscreen, the character barely catching his fingers on the pixel ledge."

shouting = the rev has a microphone, yes?

jumping = speaks for itself (for a conspiracy theorist anyway!), i know that i would be jumping about with the rev controller in my hand being used as a lightsabre!

again, just speculation, damn it's addictive!

do you reckon this is the beginning of the rumoured end of NDAs?

bunnyoku said...

and after reading the duplicate story at gamespot, i see that most of this has already been discussed. Feel like a doof, but hopefully it brought it to some peoples attention and brightened their otherwise crappy day.

I just was looking at pablo belmonte's site, and noticed something. If you look carefully, the image darkens to the right of the "button" if you will, and then it goes around and gets lighter. Does anyone else think that it could be a zoomed in image of the underside of the controler?

you've got a really solid point there kevin. it's something i've been thinking about a lot lately too... YES, nintendo fans are crazy... HOWEVER: where the hell are the new ps3 controller mockups and the halo3 mockups and everything else? not a single one... anywhere...

something is fuckin going on man...

if pablo is setting us up for another fall... i swear... i will fly to fucking spain... and i will find him...

it's not likely that ps3 going to copy revolution's remode

Ps3 now in price 500-600 "EURO". That too much already. If thay copy it. it will plus $50-$100 more.

Halo3 ... other thing. thay may sale same time as ps3 and revolution.

Anonymous said...

wtf are you talking about pi? of course sony is going to copy the revomote, but that's completely beside the point: we were saying that it's strange how a billion+1 mockups have been on the internet for nintendo products, and not a single one is to be found for other "highly-anticipated" items in gaming, such as ps3 or halo3...

Anonymous said...

I think there are only mock ups for nintendo stuff because other people have no imagination.
