Introducing Nintendo Go?


Could Nintendo Go be the final name of Nintendo´s next-gen console? Engadget has been sent the above image. Here´s their story:

Someone sent in this image of what they believe might be a swiped slide from Japan showing off Nintendo's final brand for the forthcoming Revolution. Supposedly it could be announced later today by Iwata-san at GDC in San Jose, but until one of our faithful readers wants to translate what little text is visible we're by no means prepared to comment on the validity of this shot -- if anything, we're inclined to call hoax, since they quite often are, particularly with Apple and Nintendo.

I am undecided about its validity. The name is cool. The logo I would have to get used to.

EDIT Apparently, ´Go´ means 5 in Japanese. The name would fit perfectly, this being Nintendo´s fifth console.

*The first kanji means to step on, or trample, the second means features. I don't know what they mean together, no matter what's in front of it. The rest means

** the first half of this word is probably on the line before it, but I can't figure out what it is.

I dont think they would call the online server anything but "Nintendo Wi-Fi" after promoting it with the DS.

Also I think Nintendo GO is a bit lame and boring. It has nothing catchy.. oh well. The logo seems ok to me.

True, the Wifi term as been to much promoted to be changed. But, I still don'T think that this is the new name... I would have prefered Nintendo On at this point over this...

Yes "go" means 5 in japanese. I was used to count in japanese when doing my judo exercises...However i like more the name Revolution.

I think the logo looks too much like the GCN-logo.
But the fact that GO means five makes sence to me.

Not that it bothers me Fal but I was actually the first to let people know about Nintendo GO in the previous story posting amongst IALS fake posts.

Some of the Japanese seems real but if you read Japanese anyone can write these things.

Bill shows off the main mode, including the different mental exercises which appear in random sequence. Exercises include counting, math, ability to read text out loud, etc. The content of the exercises is randomly generated so that users can't remember sequences and have to adjust on the fly. Shows off graphs tracking improvement. Stresses importance of the DS's unique features, such as recognition of hand writing and voice recognition.

The first word in that japanese in the slide is "purando" (but it is written in phonetic characters they use to pronounce foreign words). It could be "prand" or "planned". If it is "planned" they are not talking about the actual verb but rather something named "Planned".

You can see this word repeated again further down the page.

The other word I can read is the first one on the second to last line, which reads, "sutemureru". Again in phonetic characters, so it could be trying to pronounce something like "stem rell".

I can only read katakana, so that's all I can read.

Well, the biggest revo news was that Sega & Hudson are on board for the Virtual Console. That has been floating around for a while but it is fact now, no longer rumor.

Keep the name Revolution Nintendo, or call it the RS just like the DS. I really hope that is not the real name.

Regardless if GO means 5 in Japanese, GO doesn't say anything about the "Revolutionary" parts of Nintendo's next gen system at all.

But it isn't the same logo as that PC program. There are slight differences within the intracacies of the logo. I think it's a 50/50 chance of being real or not.
