More Wii channels to be announced

I have learned that there are more Wii channels on the way, other than the ones already announced. As it stands, there are nine in total if you count them all: Disc, Mii, Photo, Forecast, News, Shop, Virtual Console, the Internet Channel and the Message Board.

The new channels, presumably, is where the elusive secrets are to be found that Perrin Kaplan hinted at.

For everyone who already owns a Wii, Joystiq has compiled a comprehensive list of Wii community websites. Go check them out. And don´t you forget about WiiCade, either.

well maybe us wii-less people will start our own special comunity :P

it wont be any good of a surprise if our "folks" will like it because that implys that its not somthing that appeals to gamers. im holding out for the playboy channel *crosses fingers* then i'll be able to use it in a few years lol.

but seriously, i think the new channels would have nothing to do with what our "folks" want, seeing as they already have the weather, internet and news channels to keep them occupied. Its more likely to be a channel that will make the casual/core gamers mouths water in my oppinion.
perrin must be talkin bout some other shizzle... my nizzle

Falafelkid-
Do you know what the channels are and can't tell us, or do you only know that there are other channels? Also, any idea when this information will be made public.

hasnt it already? i thought it was in some MTV interview with reggi or somthing like that?

Reggie said somethign to the effect of we'll be getting something via wiiconnect24 before the holidays i believe. He wasn't very specific i just assumed he meant the forecast channel becoming up and running

Hi guys,

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'd say the undisclosed channel relates to Wiiconnect24. Whos to say?
The channel might serve as an access point for additional content(sort of like patches in PC games).

Offtopic:

Okay, I am not going to beat about the bush with this:
I won't buy Wii until Mario Galaxy comes out.
Having brood over it, I have come to the conclusion that there I am not desperate to play any Wii game for the time being. I won't buy Wii for Zelda. Depite the new controls, I feel like it's a N-Cube game at heart. I feel like playing Zelda on Wii messes the essence of it up. I feel like Zelda really belongs to N-Cube, it's at home on N-cube. The way it's meant to be played is with the N-cube controller. Remember that the whole game was designed with the N-Cube controller(and hardware I should add) in mind.

Look, I don't doubt for a second that it's still an awesome expirience with the Wii controller, however, as far as I'm concerned, I'm content with the N-Cube version to the fullest and see no reason as to why I should pay 300 bucks, in order to be able to play the same game with altered controls, on a system that's otherwise void of any "killer" titles that I would rush out and buy. I have toyed around with the idea for a long time and find that it's a sane decision eventually.
Again, don't get me wrong!
Wii has some solid titles besides Zelda, like Rayman and Super Monkey Ball, but they are simply not reason enough for me rightnow to buy the system. While I play games more on occasion nowadays, I still prefer deep, tight titles that draw me in like Metroid Prime, Resident Evil Zero, Remake and 4, ICO, MGS, Eternal Darkness, Zelda and Mario for example. I am stuck in my ways. I can see why people enjoy Wii Sports and other accessible titles and acclaim it. I think that it's a stroke of genius from a mere business standpoint to put emphasize on it and to capitalize on it, but being that I have an entirely different backround in gaming, it makes it hard for me to invest precious time and energy in those simple titles not to mention money.
This is not meant to be a downslope for Wii fans and I certainly don't intend to taint your joy with the system, it's just the 2 cents from a Nintendo gamer who has been there from day one. Of course like everyone else, I will eventually buy Wii when Galaxy comes out at the latest. I love the concept, but (quality) support for the core games is still insufficient in my book. A landslide is desirable. Then again, I guess when the plumber comes around and push comes to shove, all the nit picking on my part shall vanish. The plumber may be a long time coming but when he asks for return I'll accept the inevitable. No way around it.

Don't buy Super Monkey Ball, the multiplayer games are broken, and none of them even compares to monkey target from the original.

My biggest disapointment.

Ah okay, thanks for you feedback babble.

Hi D-Bone,

Nice to hear from you mate.

I am really confused. All the people I talk to seem to advise against it but I think it's a nice way to pay hommage to N-Cube before I say R.I.P. N-Cube should go out with a bang.

I'm really excited about the new VC games coming out on the Wii.A friend of mine(indie) is taking advantage of The VC platform and from what he told me things are looking pretty good.

It turned out that several universities in UK and rest of EU got some Wii dev kits as far back as Aug 2005.
Fal, do you have information on this?

Thanks!

FAL' WHERE'S THE BIG SECRET ????
WHERE IS IT HUH ???

Id love the secret to be a wii-tv channel, after all sony and microsoft are pushing HD movies so why couldnt NINTENDO push the most popular media of all...TV? And its a perfect match with the wiimote too. wiiconnect24 could also come in useful for saving tv programs like TiVo does? Although with only 512mb of flash memory on wii a feature like that would stretch saving so much video. Having said that, NINTENDO could release a HardDrive that could also act as a stand (to keep in touch with the clean ipod look wii has) This kind of feature would be great to lure in NON-GAMERS. So in all we'd have games, internet, weather, news and tv all on our wii...now thtd be a great secret!!!

will it happen? who knows...NINTENDO is an ever changing corporation that explores new revenues all the time. I believe they have even look into MOVIES and I heard they still are???

Then buy a Wii and buy the GC version if your buying a Wii + Mario later and stop whining about Zelda on it.

I do agree that there is nothing much worth buying on it though. I am only buying Wario Ware (JP) cause there is nothing much else to get since I am not into Zelda and wont be able to read much of IALS Center.

Most of the other games are half assed. I'd rather save my money.

I dont think he said Perrin said that Dbone. He said he has heard elsewhere about it relating to a Wii channel and the fact that Perrin said there were still other 'secret/s' kind of backs it up.
