Microsoft misses Xbox360 shipping target?
First of all, I wish you all a happy new year and apologize for the recent lack in updates. 2007 will be a great year for videogames. By late summer or autumn, we will see a clear winner emerging from the console war. Consequently, 2007 will be a great year for ´Wii: Definitive Speculation´. But now, let us turn to the topic at hand.
Microsoft may have missed its shipping target of ten million units by the end of the year. Videogame Charts reports an estimated 7,9 million units sold, while NexGen Wars estimates just less than 9,4 million.
Microsoft expected to have shipped ten million Xbox360 consoles by today, including ´units in transit, units sitting in store inventories and machines sold to consumers,´ as News.com specifies.
While the latter figure of 9,4 million units seems to suggest that more than ten million units have shipped, after all, the former figure of 7,9 million does not. I seriously doubt that more than two million consoles are in transit or waiting on store shelves.
