Sega developer calls PS3 tilt functionality "rubbish"

Guy Wilday, head of Sega Racing Studio, has called the PlayStation3 controller´s tilt functionality "rubbish". Wilday spoke to CVG:

"Tilt control's not difficult to do," says Guy Wilday, head of Sega Racing Studio, on the possibility of tilty-pad gameplay being included in their new version of Sega Rally for PS3. "Fundamentally, though, the whole tilt control thing is rubbish. It's no compensation for rumble."

  1. He's not saying the PS3's tilt is rubbish, he's saying tilt itself is rubbish and no substitute for rumble.

  2. Hi Anonym. You are right, he is talking about tilt motion control in general.

"The whole tilt control thing is rubbish."

But what does that matter? He is obviously not talking about the Wii because it offers far more than just tilt action. No other console offers only tilt action, so his statement clearly and only relates to the PlayStation3.

And remember that Sony´s official story on the rumble is that it is incompatible with the tilt sensors. So when it comes to the PS3, tilt functionality can only be had at the expense of rumble.
