Countdown to Iwata´s TGS keynote speech

With so little time I feel I can hardly keep up with the forums. But I still want to continue to post helpful and interesting stuff here. So I have had another look at the Tokyo Game Show event page, which specifies that Satoru Iwata will hold a 50-minute keynote speech at 11am. I then fed the time and date into this timezone converter and came up with these times for the speech:

Tokyo, Japan: 11:00, 16.9.2005

Berlin, Germany: 04:00, 16.9.2005

London, UK: 03:00, 16.9.2005

New York, USA: 22:00, 15.9.2005

Los Angeles, USA: 19:00, 15.9.2005

Just so you know what time you should be watching the skies, wherever you are.

EDIT Here is a list of sites that are likely to host streams of the speech:

The Gamespot TGS 2005 site promises ´tons of news, videos, and impressions of everything you want to know about.´ I will ask them about whether they will stream the keynote live. But I expect they will.

EDIT No, they will not. Here´s a message I received from GameSpot´s executive editor:
Hi Andreas,

Unfortunately we will not be providing a live streaming version of Mr. Iwata's keynote at the Tokyo Game Show. We'll provide as much coverage of the keynote as we can, however. Thank you for your interest,

Greg Kasavin
Executive Editor, GameSpot

  1. I won't stay up until 4 in the morning if there isn't a livestream.. hope there will be one though. :P

  2. Cool, thanks! Of course, the obvious choice would be Nintendo.com - they may not have a live stream up, but they will probably unlock a special page at the time of the announcement. I am still trying to find out if Reuters or APTN will be at the event. If they are, you may also see footage on the big networks soonafter.

  3. Hey buddy, thanks a ton for posting the times. I hope your search for a live stream turns up positive results. Great blog, too, by the way.

  4. Sweet!

Looks like Iwata will take the stage after the XBOX 360 conference. Poor Microsoft.

Looks like I'll be staying up a little later that night. Thanks for posting this.

  5. This is exactly what I needed.
    Thank you very much !

  6. Yeah, Robbie Bach is first. Iwata straight after. Just for a laugh: Remember the rumours that Nintendo and Microsoft were to merge and the Revolution and the 360 were one and the same? After all, a revolution equals 360 degrees... ;P No, I´m not serious. But it´s welcome fodder for people like Seriousgamer007, for sure.

  7. Hi Falafelkid, I thought if you can post somekinda scripts or somehing to that blog you could go to http://www.cutandpastescripts.com/ they have script that you makes Countdown. It would be cool to have that for each of those places.

And in my time that is about 6:00.

  8. Falafelkid:

Are you going to post those quotes again, maybe with some video footage??

I believe the quotes and all, but it would be nice to look at them again (better with video). :)

  9. mm nice 4 a clock at night. forget it. I wil hear it in the morning I am not going to stay up until 4 for the big news.

  10. @anonymous: Thank you for the link regarding the countdowns. The one I pasted just below the main image is ripped from Gamespot - thank you guys. I am not too sure what you actually mean, though. If you really meant individual countdowns for each timezone - that would be pointless. They´d all be the same! See? Or did I misunderstand your request?

@_psifire_: I am sorry, I have so little time. I will not be able to upload any clips or try and sort out the HTML in my earlier posts. Sorry.

  11. I don't know why but you seem to be avoiding an answer to what happened to your clips Falafelkid.
Saying that you don't have time bla bla is actually pretty sad... Just give us one simple answer! Please...

  13. You would have to be a Gamespot Complete member to watch the show life. But in general you can watch the streams afterwards for free.

  15. I think 50 minutes aren`t enough, to explain the full revolution. I think Nintendo is just going to present us the specs and maybe a few gameplay clips.

    But who knows? ...

  16. Looks like Cassandra from SoulCalibur 2/3.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Nintendo will not show game clips neither just tech specs, they will show gameplay as well as the interface and maybe the tech specs, they said that they could have shown game footage, some teasers and such, but the way they want to show the Revolution is in it's full potential, show it's real porpose the way it should be. Tho is not for sure this will be at TGS

  18. @pissed off anonymous

who cares it was confirmed that atleast one of them was real and its not like they had tons and tons of info/claims about the revolution, its old news just forget it y do u care so much

    ReplyDelete
  19. @anonymous who called me pissed off

I don't care about the deleted news. But he still hasn't told us WHY. Or have I missed something?!
Why the hell should I forget about it? It's obvious FKid is ignoring the question.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I weren't sure who the character was thanks.
Probably fake but can't find any image or art work which matches it it might be part of a bigger picture I dunno. Maybe indicating visor or special character the next SC game.
It looks nice and make change from another controller mock up :)

Someone may be able to photoshop and mess around with image too make it smaller and perhaps compare it to game screen.

  21. I agree falafelkid is ignoring the question...

And it hasn't been confirmed by the way...only by TVG (Total Video Games)have confirmed it and they aren't exactly the most reputable company to cover news.

In any case I think Falafelkid has a rather big blemish on his blog because of this very strange episode and the fact he hasn't even given an explaination just seems to of added fuel to the fire that it was indeed a fake piece of reporting...

(Maybe to get a scoop/exclusive on a piece of news in order to get more readers for his blog?)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Stop it...
    Falafelkid DID give an explanation.
That was a glitch, nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i dont see how u think that picutre is even related to the revoultion? what makes you think that?

    ReplyDelete
  24. A glitch?

So then put it back up? What's the problem?

Don't tell me it can't be recovered bla bla bla.

    ReplyDelete
  25. For those who care...

Something strange is going on at the Nintendo Paramount blog.
The latest update about Revolution was deleted a few minutes after having been posted.
It was about a Revolution WorldWide launch in Q1 2006, priced 200$ (I think the guy typed "£" instead probably by accident), with 8 games (there was a list). He said that buying a Rev would allow you five free downloads.

I apologize for not having way to prove my claims. But I'm not here to spread rumors. I'd like to know some info like everybody else here.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Falafelkid DID answer. That was the point.
The quotes have been confirmed true. There's no point for Falafelkid to waste time with this anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Forget the Nintendo Paramount thing.
    The update is back.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I dunno why this image intrests me I know it probably fake but seems a part of a bigger picture and I can't find any matching image it don't seem to be a photoshop of existing image

    http://img347.imageshack.us/img347/4708/mp34uh.png

Just odd and better than a controller mockup :)

someone who speaks English better than me, please translate this

Wir können davon ausgehen, dass der revo auf der TGS enthüllt wird.
Aber das mit Zelda ist beängstigend.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I know its from SC but is it box art or poster or what?

Find me a matching image and I will be happy:)

Anyway it is something to add to the mix

    ReplyDelete
  32. I`ll try to translate it. But please don`t laugh! ;-)

"It [Zelda - Twilight Princess] is going to be the last Zelda, like you know Zelda today. I worked hard on it myself, even more than on Wind Waker. I ain`t gonna be invest more in a Game than in TP. We`ll try to make the best Zelda ever released."

Also he confirmed, that they`ll announce all espects of revolution in the upcoming weeks.

The question on Zelda is: How is the Zelda be different aigainst it`s successors?

Don't waste your time reading the first post, there are better translations in the later posts. Still not known if its real or fake though.

  34. Explanations have been given by Frédéric (the french journalist who wrote the article).
This interview is real, but Nintendo doesn't state anything officially about it because it has no value (there are no revelations).

    ReplyDelete
  35. if there isn't a visor then people will see revo as a gimmick, not just non nintendo fans but non gamers, people don't understand and they look at the psp and think its better than the ds, they are different but first impressions count a lot

i really hope nintendo have something amazing not just something which is innovative or they think is revolutionary, they need to pull something amazing out

this is not just after all the hype and bullshit but in general, especially with the gamecube, nintendo needs to deliver and they know this

so everyone will go wow and nintendo will not be seen as the losing company, even though they are successful, they need to estabish themselves again, like nokia in the mobile market

  36. Your excuse for failing to repost your Leipzig items is rather poor Falafelkid. Please tell your readers the truth.

Here's the text to help you with your "HTML":

    <p&rt;More news from Leipzig. Peter Molyneux told me this when I asked him about the Revolution: "There is a line at the end of the book ´Game Over´ and it is: ´Never underestimate Nintendo´. That is all I can say about the controller." Sounds good, eh?</p&rt;

    ...and from Naka-san...

    <p&rt;News from Leipzig. This morning, I interviewed Yuji Naka, creator of Sonic. I asked him just how revolutionary the upcoming Nintendo console really was and he answered: "I am under a strict NDA, so I can´t really say much. But I have seen the Revolution and I think everyone will be very pleasantly surprised, when Nintendo reveal everything."</p&rt;

    <p&rt;In a few days I will be able to view the tape and write down the entire answer he gave. But this excerpt is good news already. Sorry for the lack of posts while I´m at the Games Convention - but please hang on in there.</p&rt;

We should all expect to see these up again very shortly, or have a good and honest explanation from you as to why you are unable to report these. Saying that you had a 'glitch' with Blogger doesn't cut it.

  38. But we KNOW that these quotes are true.
So why do people insist so much about that ?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Unless something has been posted on Lionhead studios website, you don't know that the quote is true.

The issue isn't really whether the quotes are accurate or not, but why they were removed from this blog, and why they have not reappeared. Falafelkid should repost the items if he stands by their validity.

  41. @kit and all the others who still doubt falafelkid´s claims:

stop playin this childish game. falafel has proven his credibility more than once in the last months. you getting excited just beecause of 2 missing (already proven) statements. it´s just ridiculous. can you imagine that people (like falafel) have really better things to do (and i am very sure that he does) than fullfilling every little fart coming out of an 13yr old hairless a*s? By the way: what would it change if he restores the deleted posts? will these posts become "more true" immediately than they are already?

This man is seriously WORKING the whole day and so you should be glad and thankful that someone like he is updating his blog with serious, non-fictional and sometimes exclusive material.

I am just tired of these dumb comments, the whole discussion now lasts for weeks... so please GO GET A LIFE instead of just flaming around.. it´s like "hm... falafel does not restore the comments... he MUST be a f4k0r..." otherwise "SG007 just talking nonsense... but he is rather cool... hm.. so.. he MUST be the real deal"

    @falafelkid

  43. To the anonymous coward:

If a journalist is forced to make a retraction, it is expected that they give a credible explanation. If they choose not to, they should be help accountable.

As a blogger, and journalist, Falafelkid is obligated to treat his readers with respect and honesty.

Personally, I think it is likely the quotes are genuine - but that's not the issue. His failure to repost the items questions his integrity, regardless of the veracity of the quotes.

If there is a reason he is unable to repost the quotes, he should have informed his readers.

    ReplyDelete

i dont think falafel treats "us" in a bad or ignorant way. i am sure there are reasons not to post the articles again (and even if he´s just too lazy to post again, i wouldn´t care)

obivously he will not post them again so i looking forward to his new post instead of complaining about the old ones. everything else is just a waste of (life)time. period
