Sorry, we cannot comment on the Nintendo console. You may find it interesting though that we did launch our new free-space display system this week www.io2technology.com and have new videos and images online.
I don´t know if the CEO deliberately wanted to remain vague in order to generate some interest in his company or if there may indeed be a connection. But the former seems more likely. Go check out the clips, though. It´s cool technology.

Doesn't mean saying that they cannot comment means they have some kind of commitement?
Dag, Fedboy! Well, I wouldn´t overstate the case (since they have got a product to sell, even if they are not in bed with Nintendo), but you are right. Normally they could just say ´No, we have nothing to do with them.´ Just like eMagin, for example.

Ein Zusammenhang??
Sag mal, stellt IO² Technology nur diese Holographischen Displays her?
OMG that one ad movie I watched didn't impress me at all ~_~ the logos vanx postet are interesting though, but I think there's no relation. they're just spheres after all and spheres are everywhere ;)
Daniel
that stuff doesnt realy look very impressive, i dont think it will be used until it can project better quality images
Especially images with the right colours. ^_^
But it's interesting, though.
Thanks for the always interesting content! We get real quality here, you cannot compare that to sg007 and other bulllshit blogs.
I don't think that this company is related to Nintendo in any way, I'm sure they only want a bit attention from the N-Fans. ;)
sg007 just posted another oen of his "confessions", but this time he says hes gona start posting real news backed by fact....yea right
very interesting read here
http://nintendo-revolution-nside.blogspot.com/
I am trying to decipher the codes, what does this all mean?
I always thought this guy was truthful and this really could be the clue we have been looking for.
i personaly think that sg007 just doesnt know what to do to recover from being tricked, even the slightly stupid that belived him don't anymore, only thing his site is is a good read, if only it where all true that would be perfec t
yep, that's definetly a patent for the revolution controller, it has been proven, look at the images, shows diferent forms of controllers. A Playstation like controller, a N64 controller, A controller with 1 joystick a D-pad and six buttons, the patent was filed recently, one of the inventors is Shigeru Miyamoto himself. Lol just kidding tho all that i said before is true the part of the patent being a Rev patent is not true, turns out that this patent is some kind of continuation of the filed for the n64 joystick just that, not more than that, just read it a little and you'll find out by yourself, if it's hard to understand the technical stuff just read the background. BTW it has nothing strange

Check this patent out:

It's a strange patent that was filed this year."
That's just a continuation of Nintendo's Analog stick patent 1st approved May 22, 1997 and then, more recently, Oct. 12, 2000.
It compares said invention in patent to other analog sticks of the day (ie. "control lever of an aircraft").
Patents you can see on the internet are useless. It takes a lot of time until they can be viewed by public, so there's nothing about the rev.
Well said!
Even for the depth-cube-mapping ?
what do u mean its not nintendo's style to make powerful systems? the gamecube was the only oen that wasn't the most powerful wasnt it?
I personally wouldn´t underestimate the Gamecube´s power this generation. It´s the only console capable of those nice light effects seen in the charge beams in Metroid Prime or the Beast Change in Bloody Roar, even some effects in F-Zero GX. Those were spectacular and no other console has utilized anything of the kind.
Since Nintendo is pointing at the DS to show the direction they're going with the Rev, I think it idd IS their new style not to compete in the high tech race (with graphics and specs)
I thought Nintendo pointed at the DS as being an example for the Revolution because they both share the philosophy of making innovative games not because the Revolution is going to be weak?
still look at the ds resident evil graphics compared to the psp graphics im not all for good graphisc but i dont want there to be such a big gap

You can only pick two!
haha. Awesome.
@Tww10
yea but remeber, nintendo said that it was something that has never been done b4 with video games
256 MB RAM is just fine. It's not like this thing runs on an OS or something.
hmmmm....
geminis hint..." 'Hope' that's all you gotta do"
star wars reference......
obi wan mabye?
I don't see no "shogmaster" here, so maybe you should shut up. And Rev wouldn't even need 256 MB of Ram.. especially the expensive 1t-sram, just not necessary
About Kameo: If you compare the Xbox360 footage Microsoft is showing now to the old Gamecube footage, I really think the Gamecube footage looked better. Both the colour palettes and especially the morphing effects made for much smoother graphics I would say. The new stuff is too bright (colours are too contrasting), the edges seem to be badly anti-aliased and there are no more nice morphing effects. So I agree, Anonymous. Kameo won´t be the killer app it would have been for Gamecube. It´s been ported to death.
You should better take your pills @the last anonym.
Ever had the idea that it is expensive to put all the hardware in such a tiny box? It also has to be cooled etc. AND it will be quite cheap, so no fucking chance for ps3 or even xbox360 specs.
People like you, who expect a ps3 in a a 3 dvd case box for 200$ are just rediculous.. maybe you should visit reality once in a while.
Oh yeah, and I like the look of Kameo. The grass is nice and the whole look is positive. If it would be announced for Rev, people like you would hype it to heaven.
I'm a Nintendo Fan, but I've got no problem to admit, that the game doesn't look bad.
Gamecube was smaller than PS2 and is more powerful...So...think about that.
ps2 release date, cube release date? Also just think about that:
ATI chip: Nintendo + Microsoft => ~ equal investion amount
Rev smaller than xbox360 => ?
Right, Rev != equal power
Right, people. I really appreciate all of you coming here and commenting passionately. But stop flaming one another, okay?
About Kameo: Compare the Xbox footage to the old Gamecube footage. I sincerely think the old stuff had more artistic integrity, as well as an overall smoother look.
About power / size of a system: Gamecube was more powerful than PS2, while also being much smaller. But that is down to the Cube coming out years later. By the time the Cube was out, Sony were already working on their slimline console. So I guess Anonymous is half right. We cannot expect PS3 specs in that tiny size for $200. But we can expect Xbox 360 specs if the Rev does launch a year later than the MS console.
That´s just what I think. So please discuss clamly. Share your thoughts, not your frustrations.
I totally agree with you SSSD !
everybody keeps talking about '3 dvd cases'. that's how tall the system is if you put it horizontal.
to be honest it looks reasonably deep to me. and have they even confirmed that the current case is what it will look like? i thought they referred to it as a prototype several times. the thing doesn't even have a sort of nintendo look to it. i'm sure it will look different when it's released.
as for gamecube, even though it came out 18 months after ps2, it's specs were decided WAY in advance. plus it has the extra space on the bottom for the gameboy adapter. it could have been even smaller if they wanted it to be. and look at how small PS2 got when they took out the HDD bay. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony purposely made the PS2 bigger after the success they had with the PSOne.
gamecube is smaller because it was better designed, period. it's more powerful than ps2, it has better framerates for graphically intensive games, and has better games period. don't even bring the ps2 into this blog. the fucking system gave DREs, had jaggies like crazy, the controller is shit and is made like shit, terrible load times. FFX and MGS3 sucked. the only titles that even make that POS even worth owning are like VF4evo, Tekken 5, GTA:SA (and it's not even exclusive), and like Ratchet and Clank. maybe kingdom hearts. and i wouldn't put it past someone to like Twisted metal black.. but honestly, there is SO much mediocrity on that system, alot of it from supposedly sony's top guys (square, konami, naughty dog).
Actually, Iwata said that the final Revolution case will be even smaller than the prototype that they showed. If you look at the size of the DVD slot and think about how large a DVD is, you can see how small the Revolution really is. It IS extremely small. Hardly bigger than a DVD... I love it.
ok first off when ur talking about somthing don't be baised the first part of what u said was good the second haev was realy heavly biased
i do agree with you in a way, nintendo does have the best first party games, but ps2 has the best selection of games, and non exlcusive games r usually realsed on it first.
however i personally like the ps2 controller better than the gamecube one, i think that the a button is too big and the z button is too small, but thats an opinion, just like ur opinion on how MGS and FF sucked, i liked both of those games
saying "don't even bring the ps2 into this blog" just makes you sound like a 13 year old nintendo fan boy who is scared that nintendo isn't going to delever
i personally bought a gamecube just to play thier 1st party games, but also bought a ps2 to play everything else
when it comes down to it all what i think realy matters on a console are what games are on them, and when they are released
considering the heliodisplay retails for around 18,000 USD, this doesn't seem very probable.
maybe i was too harsh.. but i don't think i was. for the record, i was a big time supported of PSone. it's not like i'm crazily anti-sony.. i own a discman and shit.
but i don't think it's opinion that MGS3 and FFX are bad games. they are bad games period. the sphere grid in FFX is worthless and cumbersome, the battles were childishly easy, the battle system just became a game of swap-and-go depending on what enemy you had, and i know i'm not the only one who doesn't appreciate the jump-through-hoops-of-fire approach square took to get the items neccessary to get the ultimate weapons. dodge lightning 200 times? yeah cause it's not like i wanted to squeeze anything else into my day. as for MGS3, the camera is disgusting. so many aspects of the game require the first person view point, but they don't let you move in it. so my advice to hideo kojima is, if you going to absolutely stick to the 3rd person view, make it so i can actually see wtf is happening in front of me. and the controls were an absolute joke.. clunky and scattered all over that mess that is the Dual Shock (and i don't like gamecube's controller either.. i just really hate the DS). and what about having to go into a menu every single time you wanted to change your camoflauge? seriously.. just a horrible experience. not good in any of the ways a game absolutely needs to be good in other than graphics. extremely disappointing.
i stand by my original contention that VF4evo and Tekken 5 and ratchet and clank (which they mercilessly milked like it was mario party or some shit) are really the only worthwhile buys on the system (madden doesn't count since EVERY system gets it, Call of Duty same, PoP same). i mean, i guess if you want to buy the same Nippon Ichi RPG over and over again with a new box, PS2 is the system for you.
and for the record i think FFTactics is the best game ever, so it's not like i'm anti-sony/square/rpg/japan or anything like that.
i think ps2's image in the games department took a bit of a hit when gamers started playing standalone DVD players.
if you don't need your ps2 to act as your DVD player (i know thats why i got one) it's lineup doesn't look like it's so far ahead of the others.
saying you have 1000s of games is kind of an okay argument but i think gamers know they'll never play that many games and alot of them suck anyway. so when you start going top title to top title, the other 3 systems (yeah i'm throwing DC in, seems to be the cool thing to do nowadays) it gets a bit more even. that's my opinion on it, anyway.
i like the whole sphere grid idea....but i didn't like how every character could learn the just about any skill as long as u put time into what u wanted to get
yes i can have it both ways.
make the battles harder, and make me beat some crazy super boss for an ultimate weapon.
don't make me dodge lightning 200 times. don't make me run up and down a stupid treebranch in like 14 seconds or whatever irritating thing it was. don't try and flip the situation around and act like difficult battles are the same thing as tedious, obscure, half-assed minigames designed to add another 10 frustrating hours to the number on the back of the box.
the sphere grid was not intuitive in the least. everything overlapped itself, it was so spread out and as you got further into the game the overlapping was just frustratingly confusing. i will never ever budge on this. FFX is a crap game in tons of ways.
Jak is seriously the most overrated game in history.. Kingdom hearts is pretty good, but it's honestly not all that special. katamari came along and people dig that, but honestly.. you're trying to tell me that jak+dark cloud+rogue galaxy+okami = better than MP, Mario sunshine, super monkey ball, wind waker, ninja gaiden, panzer dragoon orta.. hell i should even bring DC into this with shit like crazy taxi, mark of the wolves (granted it got ported for ps2 in japan), powerstone, and shen mue!
what i'm saying is ps2 flat out pales in comparison in the high end titles. it just does. they are all based on name alone and hanging onto the legacy they established on the PSOne (especially in the RPG sector which is just in shambles, completely wrecked with too many similar games that take too fucking long to beat with stories that aren't interesting enough to want to play through again)
and the ps2 version of pyschonaughts really really looks painfully inferior to the xbox version. to the point where the game is impacted.
and for the record, if you thought any part of FFX's battes were hard.. then you probably suck at games.
alright fine. you're a nice guy and you never lost it when i said some shit about ps2.
but i still think tekken 5 and vf4evo and r&c are the only things that are essential on the system.
for the record, i'm a big ff fan, which is why i'm so hard on ffx. it was very much below my expectations. but at least auron was cool.
This technology is impressive if you ask me and nintendo did say that it would be good for pikmin will with this being a touchscreen in the air that means pikmin would rock
obviously image quality is low but its first generation technology so is to be expected when it gets better we will have more colours ect... TV's hardly started out the way they are now did they
