More news from Leipzig. Peter Molyneux told me this when I asked him about the Revolution: "There is a line at the end of the book ´Game Over´ and it is: ´Never underestimate Nintendo´. That is all I can say about the controller." Sounds good, eh?
EDIT I understand some people are sceptical about my claims. Here is a still taken from the interview.

Dude, you are THE MAN _O_
Thank you, thank you *bows humbly*
These compliments seem to be surpassing the obligatory courtesies. This must be a good sign.
Most eloquently put.
This is like the third or fourth great game designer praising the Revolution! Man I can not wait for this thing to be revealed!
O_o can't wait for tgs..
thanks for your hard work :)
Molyneux designed Black & White, Populaous, Fable and Dungeon Keeper, among many others. Oh, and Syndicate, I think. He used to be head of Bullfrog Studios, now he owns Lionhead.
Wait, is this a quote stating what he expects, or what he knows?
What he knows.
No, Fable was by Lionhead. Molyneux has nothing to do with Bioware. But there were some rumours Bioware was developing for the Rev. Don´t know if they were well-founded, though.
Don't they know many people are expecting a wireless gyroscopic touch screen controller? And serious game fans want a $900 stereoscopic visor? I really don't think Nintendo's being underestimated ;)
There are plenty of people underestimating Nintendo right now. Oh, and a mass-market version of a 3D visor could be sold for under $100.
Jesus Christ, the more I hear - Yuji Naka, Peter Molyneux, and others - praising N5, the more excited I get. I haven't been this excited about a console since the SNES.
Same here. I have been quite sceptical about anything really big happening so far. But now I think we really might be in for a treat. How about that P.O.C. connection? The Japanese gaming company cited to have invested $300.000 in them might be Ninty after all... 3D visor, here we come!

I hope that`s not too important for the future of NINTENDOS Revolution.
It`s written in german. It`s a discription about the possibilitys of the PS3s new eye-toy.
@ Falafelkid
Yesterday I was at the Games Convention too (really cool event!), but Peter didn`t tell me this. ;-)
Super news!
Hi Raphael. Cool show this year, wasn´t it? By the way: if any of you guys in Europe can receive RTL II watch it tonight at 8pm German time. In my item on the Games Convention today, I am showing the eMagin Z800 visor.
Oh, and best regards from Mr. Runde, communications director at eMagin. He again said that there was no exclusive collaboration with any console manufacturer. They are talking to all of them, apparently.
Yes it was.
Hideo Kojima: For the GC show in general, this year I realize it's more hot than last year, and probably during the weekend many, many people will come -- maybe more than Tokyo Game Show. Previously our mindset was always on E3, Tokyo Game Show and then GC. But since GC might expand in the future, it might have to change to E3, GC and then Tokyo Game Show.

Other sites are saying that your interviews maybe fake... Here is one: http://n-next.com/index.php?subaction=showcomments&id=1124471109&archive=&start_from=&ucat=3&
Thanks for the link. Just uploaded some screens from my interviews. I work for RTL II. Check out my TV station´s website at http://www.rtl2.de.
Falafelkid, I think Moz stole some of your stories
LOL
Hi Davis. Don´t know when I will broadcast those clip. Tonight is nothing on the Rev.
Hi Raphael. 1. Nein 2.
same question here:
Why do you have an RTL2 microphone?
RTL2 is a german TV-station, is it posibble that this picture is from an interview made by RTL2 and not buy you.
Okay, for Topics sake: They say that Nintendo will reveal some details of the Revolution in the days after GC.
I hope so.....is it almost too late?
Above that's me. ^-^´´´´
Are you the guy who wore the 3D visor? And do you plan to send that Molineux (sorry too lazy to look up how the name is spelled correctly :P)or other Revolution related clips in a RTL2 news segment?
donconselero> Falafelkid is a RTL2 Journalist.
In one of his ealier article, about the Revolution Ad meaning, he phoned someone in America about her/his site about Dream and pentagon or hexagon. Later he ou she put on his/her site an article about a German journalist named X Y from RTL2 and added her comment to this ad.
Thank You, FalafelKido.
ahhh
ein RTL2 Journalist
gut zu wissen!
;-)
Bist du ein RTL 2 journalist?
Ich habe dass nicht gewuBt, aber ich finde das sehr toll.
Aber Natürlich, darum sprechst du auch Niederlandisch!
Tschuss!
Didn't Matt at IGN says they will be some revelation around or a litte after Game Convention ?
my speculation :
Matt know about NDA getting less strict around GC. They still could not talk about revolutionary feature(s) but could talk about revolution and their NDA ...
What exactly does "NDA" mean?
Non disclosure agreement
Matt knows what he's talking about I'm sure, he's in the best position to know, he would be the first to hear and cover the revelation of the revolution.
Yup, you pretty much answered it all yourself. That was me in the package - and the goggles were the eMagin Z800. I wasn´t too impressed with them, by the way.
Okay, looks like I´ll be offline for another few days, I´m afraid. PLease stick by me. I´ll be back Friday by the latest.
Is there a video ?
The microphone indicates that the interviewer is of German channel RTL 2, and therefore the blogger does the li3s again.
Hmm, the guy in the pic doesn't really look like Molyneux tbh.
Ronn,
Believe it cause it's him (search on google man...)
Yes, it's molyneux in the pic. So, they have finished the controller...now it's just waiting...and waiting...can't wait though.
If Molyneux really said this it means the Revo could be something interesting and i agree with him. I hope Nintendo comes up with something unique and innovative.
If you have stills taken from the interview, why not post the video clips? Suspicious...
Screw the controller what the hell kind of processor and ram does this thing have?
because that revolution talking video segment was not yet broadcasted on RTL II.
Ok, being dumb now:
Is "Game Over" actually a book with that sentence at the end or not? My ebay research only showed that there is a thriller or something which is called "Game Over".
Two exclusives in a row, nice.
game over press start to continue
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0966961706/102-5771035-5653707?v=glance
Molyneux a month ago or so said that he liked the Revolution controler very much. He said it of the records during an interview with another german television. Or so one of the anchormen of the channel said in a forum, but this seems to validate it.
The googles looked ... cheap, hard to belive they are selling for 900 € (or was it dollars?)
Game over is a great book, about the history of Nintendo and a brief look into the world around Nintendo. Nintendo has 500 B in the bank and no one F's with this 500;b Gorilla. If you get a chance to read this book, buy it and understand how Nintendo came to be. I have the original and looking for the updated one.
I don't believe this BS. To back up your claims you present us a screenshot. A freakin' screenshot. That could have been from ANY interview.
I was looking at a thread on moz la punk, there's supposed to be some info from a guy thats suposedly in teh kno, nothing has hapened wit that guy yet, but ther was a recent ppost that is kinda intersting:
dendrite :: 21 augustus 2005 06:38
The Revolution controller will have a simple setup, just some special features:
one directional pad, select, start, A and B buttons, one L trigger and one R trigger.
The special:
gyroscopes to control games, an LCD screen
Despite what people have said, the screen is not a touch screen, but a regular screen like that on a GBA or the DS top screen. What this is for is a unique multi-player game, as to where over a Wi-Fi signal from the Revolution console itself, sends the game to the control screen. This is done from a Wi-Fi switch on the back of the controller and also a switch on the Rev. which will change the option from TV to controller. This makes it possible to switch to controllers if the player wants to see something on TV, or a family member needs to see something "A console for the whole family" the signal is picked up in the Wi-Fi radius, you can play anywhere in the house or out, if signal strength is good.
The option will be available for players to have their own view on the game (the patent referring to a "fixed point") or regular split screens on a television.
"the days of controller to console to TV are over"
"not a console, not a handheld, a whole new platform"
fake?
"Falafelkid said...
There are plenty of people underestimating Nintendo right now. Oh, and a mass-market version of a 3D visor could be sold for under $100."
From $900 U.S to $100? I don't think so.
Even if Nintendo manages to squash the price (like decrease the 800 by 600 pixel resolution) and buy in bulk it would never go down to $100. Nintendo could always sell for a loss, it may help them in the long run if the loss manages to kick Sony and MS off the competition, but it'll never happen.
But then again, Nintendo did sell the powerglove for a cheap $99, when that sort of technology sold for thousands in its time...
So what?
If you REALLY made that interview for RTL2, we may be able to WATCH and HEAR that single question in german TV-Broadcasting, too! Right?? But when is that???
I wont belive until I saw that interview by my own. Just as someone else said.. that picture could be taken from any other interview. And to be honest.. RTL2 mostly sucked making coverage
Really, I don't understand your scepticism... why would Falafelkid be lying about that ? His blog is certainly the most objective about the Nintendo Revolution !
It doesn't have that line in the book at the end...
That is a lie...
The last line of the book is as follows...
In a lapse of his ability to forsee the long-term future, Yamauchi had realized too late the importance of sewing up the 16-bit market, even at the expense of 8-bit sales. At stake was more than the $10 billion-plus that consumers would spend on video games in 1992 and the escalating amounts predicted for the following years.the video game industry was changing. It had found itself at the centre of a new industry, fast emerging as the consumer electronics and home computer industry of the future.
So as you can obviously see this whole thing is a lie...
I'm the poster above by the way...
There are more than one issue of the "Game Over" book..
Anonymous, Molyneux said "there is a line at the end of ...", he didn't say "the last sentence is...".
I have the updated version of "Game Over" and I have read the whole of the last chapter just to see this quote...
And I haven't seen it...
The thing is, you dont know which version Molyneux read. :P
Also it's possible that this isn't an actuall quote but a summary of some things he read.
Hi. Interesting news. By the way, there is a way to download the interview from somewhere?
Thanks!
Well I still don't believe it.
I don't think he's seen the controller. I think only a selected few from outside Nintendo have seen it and even then I think it's limited to big names in the industry.
Molyneux isn't even making a game for Nintendo...on any platform.
This photoshop all the way!!. rofl I mean that micronphone has pixels around it. LOL how could that be in a normal photo?!?! Naka-san's microphone also has edges while the photo itself is perfect.
If you don't know what youre talking about, stfu dude!
Look at Molyneuxs left eyebrow, it has pixels around it, PHOTOSHOPED ALL THE WAY!!! Molyneux hasnt relly got a left eyebrow.. fake fake fake!!!
Sorry that so many people are doubting you, but I think that would happen even if you used Nintendo.com as a source.
Personally, I don't know why it is such a big deal to prove if it is true. While it's always nice to hear that developers are excited about the Revolution, none these quotes really reveal anything huge. Why can't we just assume that they are true, based on the past history of this blog?
Hope you can keep giving us exclusives, Falafelkid!
@Anonymous: look closely at Yuji Naka's glasses. His glasses make a perfect reflection of the Sonic board behind them. The sonic game is pretty new, so there's no way that falafelkid took an old picture and photoshopped it.
This post is Fake!
It s not true, RTL2 never made an interview with Molyneux!!
--->i m working at rtl2!!!!!!!
Hi everyone. Thank you for so many comments. Again, I don´t have much time, sorry. But I´ll answer what I can.
@Takeshi_Kovacs: There will be long version of my item airing Sunday night as part of the weekly review called ´Nachrichtenjournal´. It should start around midnight or just after.
To sssd and various people, asking for the clips: I actually would be able to upload them, even before we broadcast them. The copyright lies with my station, but there is no harm in publishing a couple of clips in low quality. However, that still takes some time (converting Betacam footage to mpg) and I´m currently away from the newsroom until Friday. That is why I can´t upload them now. I will, though, because I fully understand that some people are sceptical.
@Darkenedjib: You wrote: "From $900 U.S to $100? I don't think so.
Even if Nintendo manages to squash the price (like decrease the 800 by 600 pixel resolution) and buy in bulk it would never go down to $100." Hi. It would. You rightly mentioned the Power Glove by Mattel. The original version of that thing cost more than $800. The final retail price was $99. Also, read my old post about the cost of implementing AR. You will find high-end versions costing more than $10.000, yet mass-market implementations were estimated to carry price tags of less than $100 - and that quote was from a years-old article.
About the book quote: It seems totally irrelevant to me whether that is an actual quote from the book or not. Molyneux simply intended to tell us that we shouldn´t underestimate Nintendo. That is irrespective of where the original quote came from.
About the PhotoShop debate: Yeah, you finally caught me. Molyneux´s left eyebrow is totally fake, I admit... Serious now, wait for the clips if you still doubt me.
Anonymous: If you work for RTL 2, who is the current Geschaefstfuehrer and how did he get that job? Nice try, mate!
another thing anonymous: look at Molyneux left cheeck, you see a little reflection of what's showed on the LCD screen. It happens to have the same colors.
@falafelkid: could you tell me what time it is? I think my tv recieves RTL 2 (I live in Belgium)
Hi Stabby. Nice one, thanks. Serious, people. I´m so tremendously busy at the moment, the last thing I´d do is spend days in front of PhotoShop.
And to anyone who claims to work for RTL II, go answer my question first. Where is RTL II HQ based by the way? Feel free to ask me stuff, too.
Hi,
Perhaps this nothing but Nintendo japan launch a special site for the 20th Mario's anniversary on the 13th Sep 2005
At:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/mario20th/media_gallery/index.html
they present old controller and allmost are "coming soon".
I just think that they will present the new controller on this page on the 13th Sep 2005...
This is just SPECULATION so don't take it too seriously!
Hi Stabby. It´s now 15:05 over here. The weekly review will start in about nine hours time, the item will be near the end of the programme.
thanks falafelkid :)
could you tell were you got that name from? Sounds a little odd for a grown-up :P
I have found more proof btw. Look at the picture of Yuji Naka. You can see the yellow of the sonic board through his hair. That would be hard to do with photoshop, wouldn't it?
nice, are there also things about revolution in that clip tonight? If not I won't give you my Einschaltquote :P (ok, it doesnt matter because I dont have a gfk-meter :( )
and yet another clue! In the picture of Molyneux, you see a hair sticking out above his head. Wouldn't a photoshopper just ignore the hair?
@falafelkid: is there nothing more you can do to proof yourself? I believe you, but I'm not yet 100% sure.
I think we will know tonight after the Nachtjournal ^^
@DiddySan: Hi, thanks for the cool link. I wasn´t aware of that date at all. It is a possibility that Nintendo chooses that date. This way they could invite the press without giving away that the event will also be about the Revolution. Mind you, when Nintendo reveals the controller, they will want to have more than mere special interest media there. They will want the big agencies and networks(Reuters, APTN, CNN, CBS). In order to get them to come, they will have to hint at the fact that hey will reveal their console there. So we will definitely know when the controller will be revealed sometime in advance. My guess is that two weeks is the shortest advance notification for networks and agencies to plan their attendance.
@Stabby: What do you want to ask me regarding RTL II? I can´t think of anything to say that would prove it. But next time I´m in the office, you can email my RTL II account and I will answer. That would be proof I work for RTL II. Just email andreas.garbe@rtl2.de and I will reply by Friday evening. But PLEASE, PEOPLE: DON´T SPAM ME, okay? I´m just giving this out to prove that I work there.
@anonymous: It´s Nachrichtenjournal. The Nachtjournal is the equivalent program over on RTL (though it´s a weekday daily and we are a Sunday weekly).
Oh sorry, mixed that up. :)
But can we also see the Molyneux and Naka comments tonight? If so, I have to set my alarm clock. ^^
No, sorry. The whole Revolution debate is a bit too special interest for most of our viewers. We are not a programme exclusively about videogames. I´m not sure if I will be able to produce an item about the Revolution before we get the whole story from Nintendo.
Falafelkid, check this out http://mozlapunk.web-log.nl/log/3318546
and ctrl+F for NURBS
Read all parts containing the word, it's amazing stuff regarding Revolution.
I am gonna watch the news on RTL 2 tonight hope I see ya!
That NURBS thingy is very, very promising. I hope nintendo is going to use that.
The Nurbs (non-universal-rational-b-spline) aren't new at all. It's been used in the CG industry for more than 10 years now, and if I remember well, Sony announced for the launch of the PS2 that the PS2 could support the nurbs.
@Penelope, nobody said it was new.
@Ninsider :
That is right but it is as if everybody discovered it today, and Sony already considered about using this technology for its Playstations
Iheard James Brown said something about the controller and it wasn't exactly good to hear.
Doubts of Falafelkid's credibility are ridiculous. You wouldn't give a second thought to question anything posted on IGN, yet where is their proof? If I were in Falafelkid's place, I wouldn't even provide pictures...it just gives skeptics another avenue of attack, not to mention the trouble of taking and uploading the pics.
Congratulations on your blog Falafelkid! From getting the first interview with Pablo Belmonte to now these exculsives with Naka and Molyneux, your blog is truly the most reliable and informative source for Rev news on the net! Perhaps the only blog that actually debunks rumors with concrete evidence. Again, contratulations!
-"Some more news from Leipzig. James Brown from Epic Games (who is working on UT2007) delivered this message when asked about the Revolution:
"I, too, have seen the controller. I can see why some developers are approving the idea, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. For sure. For example, I don't see sports developers like EA engaging themselves with this technology. What I do predict is many games....well, think Wario Ware."
nintendo-revolution.blogspot.com
-WTF
He deleted the post!
??????????
@donconsolero : EA said it would develop Fifa 2006 for Nintendo Revolution... and Iwata said the controller would allow players to play with all kind of games.
@lemon
what are you talkin about?
I mean the fact that falafelkid deleated his post about JamesBrown revo-statement.
What does that mean??
Maybe all these "interviews" were fake? All these exclusive interviews seem really fishy, especially after the deletion of that James Brown interview...
Somebody got a screen of that news posted? Seems that you cannot trust anybody. :(
where are you now falafelkid?
please explain this to us!
Hi Andreas, ich habe dich damals beim Cube Club in Düsseldorf mit deiner netten asiatischen Freundin gesehen! Ja,ja lang ist es her... Bist mir positiv in Erinnerung geblieben!
CubeRevolution
So what's going on now? I didn't see any James Brown stories...I guess i missed it..
I read this blog 2 or 3 times everyday and I have never read a post about James Brown.
Nice try, but Falafelkid never wrote this post about Brown and i am sure about this.
Someone told me who was at Leipzig that Nintendo's controller is basically the same as Gametrak which is for PS2. Like a 3D eyeToy. I have only seen the video on here www.realworldgolf.com
The Gametrak comment is very interesting and a good lead. It explains a lot of things. Gametrak technology is cheap, could be included into a standard controller, would be easy to use for non-gamers, might explain Miyamoto's "interface" comments, etc. From In2Games website, makers of Gametrak:
"Gametrak is not just limited to action games; imagine playing a ‘god’ or strategy game which allows you to sculpt a landscape or move your troops in full 3D with your hands!"
Pikmin anyone? Yeah, the Gametrak thing is looking promising. The only thing that might keep this rumor from growing is that Gametrak is already a peripheral for the PS2. But I'm sure Gyration could design something like this. Anyway...just adding feul to the fire.
Well, we don't know if the anonymous guys were lying. We have to wait and see what falafelkid says about all this.
Did somebody say James Brown?!
AaaaoooOOW! Get on the good foot! Now watch yourself! Huh huh, get it get get it.. UHN! HAAOOW!
Yeah! I feeeel good! I knew that I would yeah! I FEEEEEE--EEL GOOD now! I knew that I would! I Feeeel nice, like sugar and spice.. mmm SO GOOD! (ban ban) SO GOOD! (ban ban) I--uh GOT-UH YOOOU-Uh (ban ban ban BAN!)
this could be possibly related to revolution? or is it the ds?
Gaming Power and Horse Power: A Faithful Partnership?
Speaker: Marko Hein (Head of European Developer Business, Nintendo of Europe GmbH)
Time/Date: Wednesday (August 31, 2005) 2:30pm — 3:30pm
Audience level: All
Presentation Description
New hardware announcements are always accompanied with discussions about specifications, horse power and technical features which are even hard to understand by experts. For most gamers, there is only one thing that really matters: Will the games be fun to play?
Furthermore, more demanding hardware also requires longer development efforts, bigger budgets and higher risks for development teams. Next-generation systems may require development teams of significant sizes to achieve the results that are expected by the hardware manufacturer.
Marko Hein questions the approach that horse power and gaming power necessarily have to go together to achieve enjoyment and fun for players.
The questions are rather what players expect from a game, how developers can deliver unique and good gaming experiences with reasonable efforts and which alternatives are still there for small development teams.
With the example of Nintendo DS, Marko Hein tries to explain the potential to satisfy gamers with unique experiences that are not solely based on the highest hardware performance. He also tries to point out some alternatives to show how games that are different can increase the overall market.
Presentation Format: 60-minute Lecture
Tracks: Production and Management Issues

I'm lying?
http://boards.ign.com/Revolution_Lobby/b8270/96714176/?24
I'm not lying at all, I just heard that falafelkid posted this:
"Some more news from Leipzig.
What I do predict is many games....well, think Wario Ware."
and then deleated it,but I never saw this post with my own eyes.
I can tell you for sure that Falafelkid never wrote such a post. Maybe the guy on the board didn't mention the correct blog.
Again, about this mysterious quote, EA DID announce a FIFA 2006 for Revolution see :
http://www.jeuxvideo.fr/html/tests/affichage4_1051_console.htm
(not a very good artcile though but there are two recapitulative tables).
I would like falafelkid to explain this to us...
komm schon Fallapfelkind... ;-)
That thing with Marko Hein is interesting, it's at the GDCE. Looking at the schedule, Nintendo doesn't have a keynote speech, though... so maybe they are revealing it soon then explaining it there?

Hi everyone. I´ve got no time whatsoever unfortunately. Thanks for all the comments, though. I will read them all and address all the questions in due time - by the weekend probably. Just to clear this up: I have never deleted a post about James Brown, let alone written one. To my knowledge, he wasn´t even at the GC. This Rein guy was - but my interview never happened, unfortunately. So any claim about me having posted any third developer interview is false. I only managed to ask Molyneux and Naka. Thanks again, everyone. And see you at the weekend!
Well apparently James Brown WAS at the GC.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/643/643559p1.html
"At this year's Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, we were provided a private demonstration of Unreal Tournament 2007 by Epic's own Lead Level Designer, James Brown."
Read this all, fake or real, you decide.

Wednesday 24th August 2005...
NWURI
To put all rumors to rest:the revolutionary aspect of Nintendo Revolution is the sum of its' parts or in other words, the combination of these three components:the ability to play games from older Nintendo systems, the wireless controller which features advanced gyroscopic functions and a somehow new rendering method called cube-mapping(as described in the patent).
http://planetgamecube.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=28&threadid=13098&STARTPAGE=12
on page twelve is a link to a bit with the following quote.

Hey, neat. Hurray for caches!
dds42,
I know you are fake but what do you mean by "Wednesday 24th August 2005..." ?
