27 launch titles, 41 until January, 88 in total?

The good people at Codename Revolution have been kind enough to compile 40 Wii titles they believe will be released within the system´s launch window, i.e. within three months of launch (it´s actually 41 since they left Super Monkey Ball out).

I have incorporated Nwizard´s list of 27 confirmed launch titles by printing those in bold. Here they all are:

Avatar: The Last Airbender *
Barnyard
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
Blitz: The League
Call of Duty 3 *
Cars *
Disney’s Chicken Little *
Dragon Ball Z: BT2 *
Dragon Quest Swords *
Elebits *
Excite Truck *
Far Cry
Final Fantasy: The Crystal Bearers *
GT Pro Series
Happy Feet *
Madden NFL 07 *
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance *
Metal Slug Anthology *
Metroid Prime 3 *
Monster 4X4 WC
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
Need for Speed: Carbon
Open Season *
Pokémon Battle Revolution
Rampage: Total Destruction
Rayman Raving Rabbids *
Red Steel *
SpongeBob Squarepants *
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz *
Super Pangya Golf *
The Ant Bully *
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess *
Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam *
Trauma Center: Second Opinion *
Untitled Eidos Project
Untitled Marvelous Project *
Untitled Namco Project *
Warioware: Smooth Moves *
WiiMotorSports
WiiMusic
WiiSports *

First of all, there were recent rumours that Metroid Prime 3 and perhaps other titles had been pushed back. Also, Super Mario Galaxy is strangely missing from those two lists. That´s why I´m still treating these lists as rumours rather than fact.

And while I cannot verify those games individually, I have checked each title on the list above with an asterisk if it also appears on Nintendo´s only list of confirmed Wii titles so far, published May 9th on the Nintendo press server. Here is that complete list:

You will find that list containing an additional 47 titles to those in the first list. This would bring the total of confirmed Wii games to 88. This is a conservative number. The effective total should be higher, since the list below is only a partial one and a number of other titles have been announced that would not have fitted into any of the two lists above.

  4. sony is boasting they have over a 100 titles, but ive only been able to count a handfull of titles that have been announced. Now this is impressive that these titles are named and announced.

  5. it would be sad if metroid prime 3 and super mario galaxy would be delayed. but if they use the time to increase the quality of the games, i can easily live with that. they should give super mario galaxy all the time it needs, because i want this game to be what mario 64 was on the n64. super mario sunshine was ok, but rather disappointing compared to mario 64. i really hope that SMG will be at least as good as mario 64 was.

as long as zelda tp stays a launch title they have what was missin g on the gamecube launch: a blockbuster title at day one! and that being zelda is already very awesome.

i hope that we see 20 or more titles for the launch. hopefully we´ll get some new information concerning the launch soon (i hope for gc, but i keep my expectation extra low, because of the disappointment when they announced that wii woll not be playable for the public.)

  7. well i´m not that interested in metroid prime 3, so i don´t really need to buy it. mario galaxy won´t make it to the launch (the game just looked too unfinished at e3 and myiamoto never releases a game after at least one delay, lol). so red steel and zelda are the two games i´ll buy at launch. after christmas i´ll buy two or three more games (tony hawk, wiisports and maybe project hammer id it turns out to be a good game)

  9. I'm pretty sure they have been saying 2007 for Super Mario Galaxy all along. I don't think Nintendo ever claimed it would be a launch title but I could be wrong.

  10. Japanese software announcements have been quiet or I have not seen them. That list of launch titles; theres nothing really I want there.

I'm more into Japanese games. Rayman isnt bad though.

Might get Wario Ware if theres nothing much else.

I was hoping for Mario on launch as I'd definately get that.

  11. One of the things Nintendo needs to be extremely carefull of, is providing gamers with enough quality new titles after the launch. As this mistake with the Gamcube proved fatal.
