Revolution will be revealed at TGS

Hi everyone. Sorry for the technical problems on my site. Random Nintendo even has an article up on that. I will recover any lost content as soon as I get ´round to it. Only this morning, I returned from the ´Marc Ecko´s Getting up´ event in New York, so I´m jetlagged like hell and have loads of stuff to do in the newsroom. In the meantime, however, there is big news over at the British gaming site Spong. They claim:
You’ll be pleased to know that a full explanation of Revolution will be made by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata during his Tokyo Game Show keynote address. This news represents completely finalised Nintendo plans – Iwata will fully outline The Secret on 16th September 2005.

Nintendo is assembling key media to attend this year’s show, due to take place between 16th – 18th September 2005. Iwata will make his presentation of current activities at Nintendo. He will outline current projects and will then - unveil the Revolution in all its glory.

The Revolution presentation will include an explicit outline of the hardware and its controller and input mechanic, as well as illustrate exactly how it will work. It will go on to show games running on the system and how they make use of the technology.

Mario 128, or ‘New Mario’ as it is dubbed internally at Nintendo, is expected to be the star of the show.

SPOnG has a record of perfectly outlining what Iwata’s keynote addresses will entail. And we can tell you with 100% certainty that in the next three and a bit weeks, we’ll all be looking at Nintendo Revolution controller hardware and accompanying games. Exciting times indeed.

I have just spoken to the author of the article and I can tell yout that this information is undoubtedly accurate. As far as I could tell from our conversation, he is a reliable journalist with excellent contacts in the industry. He couldn´t name his source, naturally. But his contact is a highly placed employee at Nintendo of Europe. He also confirmed that Nintendo is selecting key media to invite to Tokyo for the event.

Now, you may wonder if he actually knows about the controller features as well. He does not. At least, he is not interested in talking about that. And I understand that. I´m sure we all agree: revealing the controller features prematurely could hurt Nintendo - revealing the date when Nintendo plans to reveal them does not. I´m just glad that, finally, the age of all the fakers like Seriousgamer is over. Finally we get some reliable information and can look forward to a definite date.

I'm glad as well that Nintendo is finally going to reveal the revolution.

  10. Hi Falafelkid. Great news, as usual. I had dissmissed this earlier, but now with your confimation, I look foward to it [The revealing].

On a side note, once the Revolution is revealed and eventually released, what's going to happen to this blog and/or your Blogger account. Will it just fade away and you'll get back to your life, or do you plan to keep tabs on other Nintnedo related rumors such as the next gameboy and (eventually) the successor to the Revolution? Will this site continue with a focus on game rumors?

    Keep up the great news!

  11. I just can't BELIEVE that this whole thing is about to end... :)

  12. Don't let it end. Just continue talking about the Revolution. Its good to have people spew rumors and other stuff around. Thank you Falfelkid. If I'm ever in germany, maybe we can have dinner. My treat!

Looks almost too good to be true. ^_^

  14. Can we please ban SeriousGamer 007 from the internet?

  15. I'm curious: Can anyone actually name a time when Spong posted unreliable information? I hear all about their bad reputation, but don't recall seeing anything that backs it up.

Anyway, nice to see you back, Falafelkid. If it makes you feel any better or something, I never doubted you.

  16. Whether Spong is reliable or not doesn't even matter.

It is pure common sense that Nintendo will make the announcement at TGS, where the worlds gaming press will be gathered already. We were promised info before the end of the year, and there is no event bigger then TGS which will get Nintendo the amount of media coverage they need. The PS3 and 360 are meant to be playable on the show floor, no way would Nintendo slip away un-noticed... i predict they will steal the show!

That said, it is great to have confirmation that it will definatley happen.

  18. Hi everyone. Thank you all for your comments. It´s a privilege to have so many of you come here and appreciate this site, even though my recent trips to Leipzig and New York kept me too busy to post new stuff.

Hi Googleplexer. Good question. I don´t know what will happen to this site. I´m not sure if I have the time to maintain this site in the long term. I might just let others take over by the time the Revolution is revealed. But maybe I will find the time to posts more often.

Hi Toohuman. Thank you for your offer. You guys are all very welcome to drop me a line should you ever come to Cologne. Best thing to do is get in touch with AIM. I am really behind clearing a backlog of mails.

  19. Schön, dass du wieder da bist. ^^

But one thing I'd like to know:
Will there be a stream to the show, like the one at Nintendo's press conference at E³?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi Benihana. Thanks for being here. I wouldn´t know if there will be a stream. I have not been invited myself - I can only trust the author. When I officially get invited (I evry much hope this will be the case), I can try to find out if there will be a live stream. But I´m sure there will be one somewhere. If not at nintendo.com, then Gamespot or IGN for sure.

  21. K, thank you, I really hope so. ^_^

    P.s.
You do a great work here. :-)

  22. I think your source is right. Here is a news from www.gccafe.com:

"Nintendo has announced that what we have all been waiting for since E3 will happen at the Tokyo Game Show on September 16th. Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata, will make the keynote speech for that date and unveil the controller for the Nintendo Revolution. Also during the speech he will be showing off the Revolution in full. What does that mean? A detailed outline of the hardware, the controller and how it will connect to the Revolution, and exactly how the system will work. After that, several games will be demonstrated on the machine, headlined by Mario 128. The other games are unknown at this time. But it is possible that the new Smash Brothers will be shown (as we know they are working on this game). You can bet that we will be covering the TGS this year extensively. The Café is where you want to be come September 16th."

  23. "According to Gamer CC, Nintendo has confirmed that the Revolution will indeed be shown at the TGS on September 16th. The initial article on the site reports Spong's claims, then an update roughly translated into: "No reason anymore to cross your fingers, Nintendo has confirmed that we will be able to see the rev at the TGS", seemingly confirms it. I'm sure evryone will have their salt containers at hand until this confirmation is found to be official.

    Source: http://www.gamercc.com/index.php?page=showarticle&id=2444"

erneute Bestätigung, diesmal seitens der Holländer

  24. I don't believe Nintendo have made any official announcements for the controller to be at the TGS. although the possiblity is very likely, nothing has been confirmed, or sites like ign and gamespot, and nintendo.com would have posted the info before Spong, or GamerCC.

The Revolution will definitely make an appearence though, Nintendo have told us they will reveal everything by the end of this year, and the TGS is the biggest thing after e3, TGS is the perfect place to unveil.
