Spooky. I got this pic from this Nintendo forum thread called ´Nee advertisement (56K)´ and while I´m reading page two, the thread gets deleted. Now that could just be related to something someone posted on page five. But it may also be related to the mock-up itself. I´m not going to shout *woo woo* here, but the mock-up looks a likely contender. The ad´s style is what could be expected for a teaser campaign, while you can see enough of the controller to see this wasn´t knocked up in five minutes by some teenager on PhotoShop. So, I´ll give this one a hesitant ´perhaps´.
I don't know! Nintendo said they didn't want an A and B button, plus that looks a bit too much like the GameCube controller. Also, the perspective appears to be a bit off on the controller logo. Also, I doubt Nintendo would copy MS and Sony's route in the four button layout, although the SNES did it first. Still, if it's real, the blue thingie leaves a good mystery!

ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the Nintendo 64 controller. The Blue thing looks like a trackball or something, and it appears to have 3 handles perhaps.

As for the 4 buttons. That is Nintendo's original concept. Look at it from this point of view...four is the perfect number to rest your thumb and still have access to everything.
At first I thought why would they put "Nintendo Revolution" on the controller... duh... But after doing a search, the N64 controller was the only one that didn't specify the system it controlled. NES, SNES, and the GC all had their logos on the controller..... just thought I would share that.

ReplyDelete@Dreamcloud: I agree with you, that image with the blurry controller is fake. There is a more simple reason than analyzing the dimensions, though. There simply are no consoles like that. The prototypes don´t actually contain any hardware yet. So far, there are only Dev Kits capable of running games. So it makes no sense at all to create those mock-ups. That´s the reason I have stopped commenting on pics showing the Rev console connected to a TV.

a)its hosted on a free image server
b)it looks like a modded GC controller
c)the buttons look cheap
d)the layout is poorly done
e)it's too dark

I agree, Dreamcloud. A leaked picture spreads rapidly through the net. It could be hosted on Photobucket and still be real.

The fact that it´s too dark proves nothing - if it´s real it woulkd be a teaser campaign.
But yeah, remember the "too many buttons" quote. That sort of rules out this one.

I'm talking about the revolutionary part of the controler, let me tell you that it will surpise you but you will probably say "OMG, why haven't think about it?"

So don't put your imagination in a place where it will leave you desapointed, it's simple, fresh and easy to use (I can just tell you that you will always see you good old A B X Y L and R buttons so think about what is re-inveted...)
