Logo and controller pics

Two new images to mull over, people.

First up is a logo that can be found on the aforementioned Industrial Property Digital Library of Japan. People have been posting this everywhere, commenting on how Nintendo had trademarked it. The logo certainly can be found. But there is no mention of who has reserved the rights to it. See for yourself. I´m hesitant about the logo.

Secondly, this is a simple controller drawing in the familiar ad style. Not too credible in terms of artistic execution perhaps, it´s almost no more than an outline (to go along with the ad-style Rev). In terms of shape and ergonomics it can´t be ruled out. But I would bet my money on it being fake, too. Finally, I can´t remember where I read these stories first. My Firefox just crashed and I need to go offline. They are both posted on numerous sites, though. Happy speculating, all.

  3. With all the new controllers that have been "leaked" I think certain points about the controller should be considered.

    1. Some type of dual analog joysticks. As seen by Nintendo's willingness to make a "Halo-Killer" and with the development of Geist, Nintendo is clearly trying to tap into the FPS market. Thus, its new system would have to have something that allowed great FPS'.

    2. Comfort. Nintendo has always made comfortable controllers and with the new XBOX360 controller (no competition from the PS3 controller), Nintendo will need a very comfortable controller.

    3. Practicality and simplicity. A head set with gloves and little pads in each hand? Come on people! Nintendo has said it wants to make something you can just pick up and enjoy, not suit up and struggle.

    4. The Revolutionary aspect. We all know that the controller is supposed to be the most important aspect. What it is, who knows?

  4. Anonym, very good points. I completely agree with you. Although an analogue stick could become obsolete for playing FPS, depending on what the revolutionary feature turns out to be. But you are very right about the FPS focus. In fact, at the European launch event for the DS, I met Iwata-San in the elevator and thanked him for the presentation. He then asked me which game I was most impressed by. Without thinking I said Metroid. So, Nintendo has been very interested in hearing the gamer´s opinion. And I am sure they heard my answer from a lot of other people too.

  5. But NINTENDO also said, that most of the games for Revolution are going to be genre-mixes.

But that mustn`t be a meaningful statement.

Oh, I highly doubt that. Nintendo's new focus is simplicity. I think we can safely assume that gryros will be the new 'free look' in FPS games.

  9. Though the gyroscopic feature could be used for FPS' it's far more likely that it will be used for the racing genre. I still stand by my four points, but yes, other things could be done to tap into the FPS market. I do think it's safe to say that the gyroscopic aspect of the controller is definitely not the revolutionary aspect, due to the fact that Miyamoto has said the technology has never been used in games before, and gyrscopic has. (Warioware, Yoshi TT, Kirby Tilt & Tumble) Until we know what the revolutionary aspect is, it's hard to predict anything. I personally hope that the Rev lives up to its hype.

  10. I would like to reiterate that Kirby tilt and tumble and Warioware Twisted are NOT gyro sensors........they are tilt sensors. BIG difference.

If you ever used a gyro mouse you would understand. They are more accurate than even an optical mouse.

  11. Trust me. Rev FPS games will NOT BE controlled by dual analogs. It's way too confusing.

  13. I think the gyroscopic feature is the revolution. Also there are some (little) more features, but gyroscopic is the big one.

I`m the truth, so trust me! ;-)

  14. Do you know that or are you just bullshitting. Becasue if you're pointing to seriousgamer as fact it's bull. Just because he says he's not fake and just because some anonymous person who could be SG007 says he's not fake does not mean he is telling the truth. I've seen too much fakes in the past couple of months to take anything to heart. The facts are that nothing he has said has been supported by hard facts.

  15. That was aimed at anonymous not Raphael. To Raphael: I still don't really think that gyroscopic controllers would be "revolutionary." They'd be nice but revolutionary, that's iffy. I certainly don't think that that trait alone could restore Nintendo to its former glory. But I could be wrong...

  17. BTW, the Revolution logo looks to be for a company called Revolution. The Japanese essentially says Revolution Ltd.
