Welcome to my anniversary exclusive. It is hard to imagine, but in only a few days my page view counter will hit the one million mark. I would like to thank all my readers again for making this blog possible. And what better way to celebrate this than an exclusive interview with Shigeru Miyamoto himself, Nintendo´s head designer and manager of the reknowned EAD studio.
I have conducted the interview on behalf of three news outlets and am currently unable to post the transcript. I will do so soon. In the meantime you may read my first article (in German) at Der Spiegel, a weekly German magazine (comparable to Newsweek or The Economist). I will translate the article soon. Please check the Google translation in the meantime.
You have probably heard the big news about Miyamoto confirming that ´Zelda: Twilight Princess´ will have special controller features when played on the Revolution. In fact, Miyamoto confirmed this piece of information exclusively to me, much to everyone´s surprise. Nintendo of Europe then had to react quickly and posted a press statement before I could write the article. Nevertheless, this bit of information was revealed exclusively to me, writing on behalf of Der Spiegel. Here´s the translated excerpt from the article:
´Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess´ will still be released for the current console, the Gamecube. A sword fight however would be more than suitable for the Revolution controller. As we reported already yesterday, Miyamoto let this one slip, much to the PR people´s surprise. "Let me put it this way," Miyamoto says. "When you are going to play ´Twilight Princess´ on the Revolution, you are going to be able to use the Revolution controller. I can confirm that you can shoot arrows by utilizing the remote control."
In order to illustrate, he points his hand at us and fires a few imagniary arrows in our direction. He probably forgot that this piece of information was supposed to remain a secret.
If you can, please check out the entire article. As I said before, I will post the transcript as soon as my other articles are online.
EDIT My second article is now online. It was written for the online part of Die Zeit, Germany´s most reputable weekly paper. If you are able to read German, please check it out. I will now post the interview as soon as I can.
EDIT Thank you all for your patience. Here is the interview in full. Please be advised that Miyamoto´s answers (through a translator) are verbatim. Not all parts make perfect sense. For a number of answers, I will consult Japanese native speakers in due time and, hopefully, will be able to clarify a number of points.

What does receiving the French knighthood mean to you? Do you feel that the French are more open-minded to accept games as a part of their culture?
When I first heard about the possibility of receiving this important award, I was kind of embarrassed to tell you the truth. I had been making videogames for so many years but all the time was working with so many friends (…)
Since the French government is now going to recognize videogames as part of their culture, I thought it would be good for the whole industry if I received the award.
A prestigious cultural award for videogames - even nowadays that´s an unlikely combination to a lot of people. Are videogames really more than just mass entertainment and a way to pass the time? Surely, videogames cannot compete with books, on a cultural level?
I think it’s hard to compare videogames with any existing arts or culture actually. I think videogames are something brand new. For example if we look at the so-called arts, literature as a whole, those are created by some authors and painters, but when it comes to the recipients, all we are supposed to do is listen to the music, looking at the arts, reading the books. That’s all we are supposed to do. It’s just one way. But what we are dealing with here is videogames, which is interactive entertainment, which is an unprecedented form, I believe.
What I’m trying to do is make players as creative as possible. More specifically we want players to think about what next move he or she is going to do. So this kind of interaction as a whole is going to make the whole videogames. What we are offering is just part of that. We need the active participations from the users. So that’s why I say that videogames are very different. And a pretty new format which has no comparison with any existing format.
I understand that some people believe that it’s just a waste of time. But for those who are actually playing with the videogames they are having some significant importance because they are trying to be creative, they are going to become artists themselves by playing with videogames. If we are talking about that aspect of videogames, I think we can call it part of the culture already.
With Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong, you created some of the best known franchises. But that was two decades ago. Your most recent characters, the flower people in the quirky game Pikmin for example, failed to have the same impact. Is the cutie-pie appeal dead?
For example, when I think about the reason why Mario is enjoying such longevity in terms of sustained popularity by so many people all around the world. I think it’s simple. The reason is that Mario has appeared in videogames, which is very interesting for the game players.
If we created characters called Mario as itself and tried to advertise that as the character for nothing, then we will not have this success with the popularity of Mario. Mario has been enormously popular all around the world for twenty or so years. Simply because people can relate the new videogames with the name of Mario. Because whenever we come up with a new format of hardware or new applications to make existing hardware more unique, we are trying to make Mario as the character which is appearing in this kind of software application.
I think people relate to Mario as if it is the character to show you the new digital entertainment and actually we have been trying to do that intentionally. So if you ask me if there is no competition with Mario as the character, it’s hard to tell. Mario as the character itself I do not think has been that popular. Mario has never appeared in those kind of software titles. My point is that I always try to cherish Mario as a character, so he always trying to do with best acts when I request him to appear in a new digital entertainment formats.
The latest Mario game, the new Super Mario Bros. for DS, is basically a side scrolling Jump ’n Run. Why return to the good old times of 2D platformers?
I think that’s a tribute to the hardware, namely to the DS-Platform. With the success of Nintendogs and Brain Training and many other unusual software application - we call them the Touch Generation titles - a number of the people who are purchasing DS are the people who have not played with videogames before. For them Nintendo DS has turned out to be their very first videogames machine in their lives that they can buy.
Looking at its size, the Revolution is hardly bigger than the original Xbox controller. Just how portable is it going to be? Where will Revolution take gamers?
I don’t think that we can call Revolution a portable videogame machine. I don’t know how to characterize it. Just an example: in Japan, whenever electronic makers are trying to advertise their refrigerator product line, they hardly talk about how many things the fridge can contain or how powerful the cooling function is. They are talking about how less electric consuming the average is. And another example from racing, Honda for one is inventing more efficient engines. Yet there most profitable machine is not a racing machines or their engines after all, it’s a compact car called Fit.
Similar things can be said about console games machines. Of course, in terms of current technologies, Nintendo could have made Revolution somewhat different machines. In other words we could make it a state-of-the-art with beefed up processing power. But we have not opted to take that course. Nintendo has been thinking in terms of how each family member is thinking about videogames nowadays. We wanted Revolution to become the machine that each family member feels like touching it, want Revolution to sit comfortably next to their TV sets. And to do that we wanted Revolution to be compact and less noisy and we want Revolution to have the look that would not intimidate people, but rather encourage people to touch it.
You yourself said that there is still a last secret to the console. There are even rumours of 3D visors and projectors. Just how big is that last secret? Will the console really be able to deliver, given such high expectations?
I am sorry that I can’t tell you that. What I can tell you is that revolution is not going to be that kind of difficult machine to handle. Whenever we are talking about secrets, the secrets created in order to let people feel like I can touch it, I want to play with it. That’s all regardless of their past gaming experiences. The secrets are always there for them to feel that this is a machine; I really want to play with it.
At the recent tourism fair in Germany, the travel industry is gearing up to cater for the pensioners, giving them names like Silver Travellers. You are targeting Silver Gamers with your puzzle game Brain Training. Is this a one-off or do you want to see the revolution find its way into old people’s homes?
In Japan we are already having that kind of phenomenon, whereby a lot of the elderly citizens are already enjoying Brain Training, Europe is yet to have that. But soon you are going to have a similar experience and we are hopeful that European people, including senior citizens, will be enjoying the Brain Training software application. In Japan that is already the case. Starting from Brain Training and Nintendogs, now Animal Crossing is selling extremely well. Against the original sales expectation, Animal Crossing is enjoying four times more the original expectatons, topping two million sales in a few weeks of the launch.
Now, talking about Revolution, because Revolution is a home console, which is supposed to be connected to a tv set, which is supposed to be in the living room of each family household, we really hope that we can do even more than what Nintendo DS has been able to do, so everybody feels comfortable for the Revolution to be connected to an ordinary tv set all the time.
The TGS trailer shows a sword-fighting game. Will we be able to swing the master sword at launch? Revolution controller functionality has been practically confirmed for Zelda twilight princess.
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is GameCube software and GameCube software can run on the Revolution. Utilizing the new Revolution Controller you may be able to have some new sensation. Even in comparison when you are trying the Twilight Princess on the GameCube.
Let me get this straight. You are saying that Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will have Revolution controller functionality?
Let me put it this way. When you are going to play Twilight Princess on the Revolution, you are going to use the Revolution-Controller. I can confirm that you can shoot the arrow by utilizing the game remote control.

First post (maybe, ha ha)! Congrats Garbe!!! I can't wait to read it!
Wow falafel, i've read the news in nintendo-europe and at first i was really surprised.. why now? why here?
but the fact that shiggy reveal this at you now explains why they have done it that way..
I check your blog everyday because a think that's the best blog about revolution.
keep up the good work and well done.. this sure is a very exclusive for us (except the fact that ninty try to partial cover the mistake with the news on nintendo-europe)
but if it wasn't for you we've never discover the truth until E3. :)
I tink its very possible we will see big news a GDC. With sony feeling the heat i think Nintendo might start opening their mouth now to E3 to start killin off the PS3 hype while its vulnerable. Looks like good news to me!
Way to go, falafelkid!!!!!!!!
Not only you interviewed the "Big" man himself, he let slip of that vital information to you.
I am waiting for the whole article to see what other things you asked him.
Oh! Did i say...WELLDONE!!!!!
Hi everyone. Thanks for your comments, sorry for the triple-post. Blogger was acting up and giving me error messages. I also had to delete a comment in the process:

Nice... GJ Fala.

Anyway, thanks again for your support. PLease check back soon for updates.
so if it was exclusive to you, how did nintendo-europe pick up on it?
how nintendo of Europe pick it up ?
they didn't simply leave Miyamoto alone with the journalist and the translator ( know as Greg (former french journalist) )
Well done falafelkid. Now can you do some detective work and find out why the webchat with him on webchats.tv was delayed an hour?:P
Hi Anonym.
so if it was exclusive to you, how did nintendo-europe pick up on it?
The second Anonym is completely correct. I interviewed Miyamoto in London, it was a Nintendo of Europe event. And with those kind of interviews, Nintendo reps never leave the room.
Hi Taylor.
Sorry to break it to you, but he revealed this to some guy at the thing where he was Knighted.
I highly doubt it. Nintendo posted their press release a few hours after my interview and the reps later confirmed to me that my interview broke the story. If you do have a link, please post it here.
I do recall reading that you would use the Rev controller to shoot an arrow....just can't remember where that was published.
One milllion so that's by same users as well? I check back almost daily, and open it more times a day than (because of the many usefull links mainly). It's not really super-high then (sure big numbers), but if lotsa users check in lotsa times.
Yep it was posted, but if you got it from the right source it would have pointed to Falafel.
Brilliant man! Im looking forward to the rest of your interview, and a better translation at some point ;)
Props, falafelkid, great news. And on a side note, 'reknowned' is actually spelled 'renowned'.

So let me get this straight, you got Shiggy to tell you that TP will have Revolution features but then someone got ahead of you and posted the news? Anyways I still believe you.... I like what you are doing with your blog, keep up the good work.
There is an interview published here in Liberation, a major French newspaper... Get the translation from Babelfish or Google
good work there falafelkid!
I read the article in german and I must say it's very good. can't wait for the other parts.
A question am rande:
Where you very nervous before the interview and then later when you sat down with miyamoto with all the nintendo reps sitting in your neck?
How long was the interview?
cool!!! at last you put the info. i thought that you'll wait until the end of the month to put it up. but anyways.
what else did the "Man" told you??
and when are we going to see the article translated in english? more expecific....
well done!!
Nice man! Congrats! Keep up the great work!
Some of you are missing the point. Yes, NOE released the info that Zelda would use Rev functionality. That was in response to Falafel's interview.
I'm sorry, but that was a TOTAL asshole move by NOE. You recieved the info during a scheduled interview, and you SHOULD recieve credit. Granted your followers will give you the credit you deserve, and i hope that the journalistic community recognizes this as well.
Grats to Falafel for a great interview, and can't wait to read the whole thing.
Sahas
So let me get this straight, you got Shiggy to tell you that TP will have Revolution features but then someone got ahead of you and posted the news?
That appears to be the case, which is too bad for Falafel here.
Still, I cant wait to read this interview in a language I can understand.
So I guess NGC was right.
Loved how Spong put out an attack on NGC when NGC first published it.

Clap, clap Falafel. I must congratulate you not only on your amazing revalation about the revolution, but also your superb article. The parts that I could understand (I've only had a year of German) sounded very interesting and I think you did a very good job describing Miyamoto's personality. I had always imagined him to have the mannerisms you described and was very glad you captured the man so thourougly in words. Also, I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I noticed that you snuck in your favorite quote, "Mario will never shoot hookers." Hats off to you Falafelkid.
Hello Falafelkid,
Exclusive means that you are the first and only one to have this information. This news is old. It first appeared in January even though Nintendo called it speculation. It was posted days ago.
To say that Miyamoto confirms features for Zelda to YOU exclusively points out that you are a typical egotistical journalist. You are not relevant to the story. Why do journalists insert themselves into stories as if they matter? Anyway, what would be useful is to find out who leaked the Zelda Revmote feature in the first place back in January. Was it Merrick or someone else?
Please post more 'exclusives' that are days behind and already available everywhere else. It is very funny!!
What -- is a version of the interview posted somewhere already?
no. the whole transcript won't be online before thursday.
well thanks for the interveiw Fala.
I had hope this game would use the Rev-controler in strategic poin-of-view as I mention earlier.
and I think he even "confirmed" that Kid Icarus might be in a corner when he attempt to shot you with an arrow. ;)
plus confirmed that Nintendo folk do really care about reading peoples/fans thoughts. AS they give you exclusive that means allso they notice your popularation.
...so triple hurray then? :P
anyway how can I contact you Fala? email? I've something private I need to discuss with you..if you don't mind :)

To anonymous who said that comment about Falafels exclusive, not being exclusive that it was revealed months ago and he is a typical journalist and you find that very funny.. If you opened your eyes, youd realize that it was all a rumor , much like the rumor zelda was going to be on revolution, and its release date. IT WAS NEVER CONFIRMED . EVERYTHING WAS SPECULATION. What falafel managed to do was REVEAL the there was truth to it, shiggs revealed to him that THERE REALLY IS GOING TO BE REVOLUTION CONTROLLER FEATURES FOR ZELDA. So other than your lack of education and your jealousy, dont tell him to post more comments that you find funny. Remember whos blog your reading and remember YOU are the one leaving the comments not him. So instead of leaving a bad comment , get your ass over to a diffrent blog, and at least try to show respect to the guy with the blog YOU ARE READING and commenting on!
Dls
wen you shoot arrows would you simple point and pull the trigger or hold the trigger pull the remote back then release the trigger?
@anonymous who is talking about exclusives.
Can you not read or are you just stupid?!? Fal was the one that got it out of him so he is the one that should get the credit, and like anonymous before me said it was all a rumor before. Read the title "Shiggy CONFIRMS rev controller features..."
"wen you shoot arrows would you simple point and pull the trigger or hold the trigger pull the remote back then release the trigger?"
I would imagine you would place your hand/controller where you would to begin drawing back the bow, then hold a button on the controller (the large 'A' or the trigger button on the reverse side?) like you were grasping the string on the bow, pull back your arm, and release the button when you wish to fire the arrow.
I really wish that people would stop using anonymous names and at least use a name.
March 17, 2006 - Pokemon recently saw its 10th anniversary over in Japan (Red and Green hit the Game Boy on 2/27/2996), and to celebrate, the editors of Japan's Weekly Famitsu magazine conducted an interview with series father and president of the Pokemon company, Tsunekazu Ishihara.
Much of the interview had Ishihara recount the creation of the series, but one section is of great concern to those looking forward to Nintendo's Revolution console. When asked if the new hardware will allow for new ideas from his company, Ishihara said: "We're considering many plans for the Revolution. However, there are still areas of the Revolution itself that have not been seen, so we'd like to coordinate with Nintendo's movements."
Ishihara's comment suggests that Revolution will get Pokemon in some compacity. More than that, though, it suggests that there are still some secrets to the hardware, which is something that Nintendo representatives have been hinting at for some time now.
Let's hope GDC or E3 shed more light on the matter.
From NGC.
I enjoyed the part about "Red and Green [hitting] the Game Boy on 2/27/2996". ;)
So...
it was all?
Then, why did you ask us questions to make him, if you only bring us a "confirmation" about the ever-known-but-no-confirmed fact of TP.
And Nintendo Europe revealed it before you. Even if you were the one that got this info. Where is the Great Interview?
Please, Say me that you have an interview, and with this, a lot of words from Miyamoto, because I only saw a crappy article.
If you don't post the complete interview, then get lost.
Anon above me - you get lost. If you think its a waste of your time to come here, then don't. Falafel has no ads, and you pay him SQUAT, so don't expect to get his interviews for which he gets paid HERE first. Go read it auf Deutsch, numnuts. If you don't know german, then grow up and realize the world doesn't run in English (yet).
Rev drops in June with 10 or so titles.
Zelda is done, but wont launch until later on (fall)
3 NEW Ip's from Ninty on launch ..one with a "big" name dev supporting.
A few more days and all will have some of this information.
This is from a very reliable source.
From GAF forums. Take it as you will.
err that was not exclusive I read about it two days ago. Sorry to burst your buble.
"err that was not exclusive I read about it two days ago. Sorry to burst your buble. "
Reading the comments about the article may help you not embarrass yourself next time.
The info was exclusive to Fal himself, the info was not exclusive to this site since it was late.
Either way Fal broke the info so call him egotistical if you may, but really he deserves the recognition. After all his profession is a journalist is it not?
As for the people dissing Fal, I dont know what is behind this type of attitude?
thats wat i thought.
my point being how realistic will it be with the rev controler?
would the sword move with all your arm movements or would it just set off a standard slash attack when you swing it with a little more momentum?
probably the more complex of the two considering the time they put into it, but if not it would be a real let down to find u waited for the standard with a few new tricks.
HI, That was a great piece am really surprised you got that a big congrats to you............
Check out my video that I made about Nintendo's new thinking.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z90_0fMitnU
This info admittedly been lurking for a while, and while the rumours were generally reliable (such as the NOM UK report and various other sources), it was never confirmed. In this respect, Fal has still done a very good job in confirming the rumours for the fanbase. Well done on getting an interview with Shigsy as well. I look forward to the full interview.
reagarding to the "Pokemon company"
I thought this Pokemon belonged to Nintendo? So is it not??? Plz shine some light thx
anyway thx for the info -> grandmasster_b ;)

Because of the succes of the pokemon brand and all it's franchising (movie, series, dolls, tshirts etc) - nintendo made a seperate company, the pokemon company - to manage the pokemon brand.
touch-gen,
I liked the revolution part of the video - great choice of music, and nice blending in of video game footage with the live action from the rev teaser!
-FlyingSquirrl
The revolutin part was my fav part aswell. Am very pleased you like it.

Mabe fala cant place the interview because thursday is the day Iwata will be talking. They might not want som news to get out before then, and their might be hints for info after GDC to E3 in his interview.
I actually believe that he cannot post the interview because he does not own the interview, rather, the news sites he was representing do. He can only post it after they post it.
damn it Falafelkid, you should have asked about a new Game Boy.
i think, falafel is just a little bit busy.
i don't want to talk big that i have seen the questions as well as the answers. except the revo support for Zelda: TP there's absolutely nothing ground-breaking in the interview.
well, there are still 3 (4?) questions without an answer, but honestly, i have no idea if falafel just forgot to put them into the textfile or if miyamoto didn't comment on those questions.
in the second case,... *silent*
just wait, k? ;)
Am I the pnly one who's not excited?
I am very much afraid that the rev controller will be viewed as a mere gimmick, not as an integral part of gameplay.
If Zelda TP can be played on GC and Revolution what the hell is so special about the revolution? Nintendos first and major outing on Revolution should crush any doubts existing about the system. A game designed for a 5 year-old system, even though it is Zelda, can't won't convince the sceptics.
Falafelkid,
congratulations with your article. It's nice to hear that you could get confirmation on some rumours. To bad that you could not get information about the Revolutions last secrets. Nintendo would not underpower it's console to such an extent, if it didn't had something big in the making. I would love to know what that is. I hope the last secrets are gonna be as big as some Nintendo prominents are hyping it.
hey falafelkid, are you aware that in miyamoto's interview with "webchats.tv" the very first "randomly selected" question was quoted as being from "andreas in germany"?
you should check it out :)

I had posted about Pokemon already above Raphael. IGN are very slow.

He doesnt just blurt out things. He says what he knows he can say and what he cant. Just because Nintendo EU deny the Zelda controller thing doesnt mean Nintendo Japan wont. Nintendo Japan is HQ.
And by the way that comment does not say anything about denying projection or cancelling out the use of some type of projection. If there is some projection all he is speaking about is TV's which I am sure will also be usable.
I am not saying projection will be there but I am just saying that comment doesnt prove anything.
It does indeed disprove the projection theories. It clearly states that the aim of the revolution is to change how you play games on your television set. A projection feature in the revolution would be a HUGE feature, not something they would downplay. I'm sure he wouldn't make a statement like that if there was a projection system for the revoluion. That entire statement would be completely false if there was because one aim of the revolution would be to remove the necessity of the television. His claim is clearly dependent on the presence of a television.
The revolution will change the way you react to your television when using games?
Sounds like something got lost in the translation.

Ah no, it does not. It is only talking about televisions. You are only assuming, thats where your missing the point.
But either way I dont believe there is projection from the statement but it does not disprove anything.
Hello everyone. First of all, thank you all very much for your kind comments.
Hi Anonymous. Of course, it´s spelt renowned. Oops, my bad. I really hate spelling mitskaes too. ;)
Hi Kalle.
Where you very nervous before the interview and then later when you sat down with miyamoto with all the nintendo reps sitting in your neck?
How long was the interview?
I wasn´t too nervous, since I had interviewed Miyamoto three times before. I also know the Nintendo rep that was sitting in really well, so there was no need to be nervous about that either. The interview was meant to be half an hour long. It was a little bit shorter, since we needed some time to set things up (and for Miyamoto and myself to load up Nintendogs in Bark Mode).
Hi Sahas. Yes, I am a journalist. I work for RTL II television mainly. But I am also branching off into online media now. I am wondering why Miyamoto told me myself. But I am pretty sure it was a slip-up. Why else would Nintendo have rushed that press statement. Also, judging from Miyamoto´s body language he really seemed to think that this had been revealed already.
Anonymous.
Exclusive means that you are the first and only one to have this information.
Others have put you right already. Thanks to everyone who has responded on my behalf.
Hi NZ Guy. Wow, that is such a great idea, actually pulling the bow´s string back to shoot arrows. That never occured to me. I guess my gaming mind is not yet working in 3D ;) But I think your idea shows just how the controller will distinguish the Revolution from other unusual controlling methods like, say, Eye Toy. I hope that´s just how shooting arrows will work.
Hi Grandmaster B. Concerning the last secret being the ability of visualizing graphics other than on a tv set, the interview pretty much changed my mind. When I asked Shiggy about the last secret and why the console was so small, he didn´t seem to hint at anything like that, not even remotely. I will post the interview within the next few days, so you can read what he said yourself. But he really seemed to downplay expectations.
...dang. that sucks falafelkid.

Who was the first who spread the unavoidable thruth?
Who told you in the first place?
Now who is the real LightShedder?
Shame on you!
As it turns out you were the one who got peoples hopes up with your wannabe
proffesional speculative pieces and your bold comments.
Now I understand why you werent willing to disclose the identity of your so called source.
Remember how you told me that I was simply wrong with my theory and all that?
Its a matter of fact if you can't take it then don't dish it out.
you hyped everybody up with your inside source and we took it for granted.
You were the first one to dismiss circulating rumors but at the same time you dispersed in your own wannabe way to promote your blog my dear friend. That sucks!
You should have taken the easy way out.
After yur track record I would have put it past you to come up with something that has no merit to it but I was proven wrong. You should apologize to all your readers for being infected and afflicted with the "tz" syndrome.

@ials:
falafelkid said he knows that there IS another secret, he never said he knew what it is. but nice to know that you don´t read the blog carefully...
@tr1pex: i would be very very disappointed another secret would just be a phone system. i don´t think so. talking ingame with someone online is enough voice communication.
Coldblodder by "that he knows it" I meant that he knows that a big secret exists and not what it is.
You all dont get the point..
See, he refuses to respond because he knows he said things that put his credibility on the line just like the Munich Newspaper the other day..
I'm still holding out that the wifi connection will still be free on the revolution. It certanly sets a precedent that microsoft can't really afford to follow and it goes along with their all access gaming motif. My guess is that's the huge secret. Maybe we all expect it but the ramifications could result in massive losses to Microsoft if the competition is letting people play the same games(albeit not in high definition) for free instead of ponying up 70-200 bucks a year to play online(depends on the payment plan).
Its so sweet how Blizziboy uses all these ridiculous Necro Uncle Howie phrases that he learned by heart to get his voice heard.Nice try Blizziboy. But really you are shouting at the wrong guy.You get your wig twisted. Its only a matter of time my dear friend.
And this is the last time I will respond to your hilarious immature attempts cause I actually have a life unlike you and never have and never will post as much as you my sweet lil butterfly..

Even though the "pulling back the string of the bow idea" is cool id hate for it to happen - every time i imagine doing this i also drop the remote when i fire the arrow. Im sure that would happen too many times for my remote to survive :D

Heh too true.
You know, I gotta agree with IALS. I don't agree with the insult stuff, but he's pretty much on the money detailing what falafelkid's done. Falafel basically turned into SeriousGamer007, Osoko Tanaka, and any other blogger who got people's hopes up on phony speculation. In Falafel's case, it's more serious because he has some legitimacy due to his day job and because he was trying so hard to debunk the fake bloggers. His 3D projection theory went against all fact and logic and became his personal obsession; his Moby Dick. If IGN never posted information about the underpowered Revolution, I'm sure he'd still be speculating that the last secret would've been some 3GHz dual core CPU with 512MB RAM. The sad thing is that there are some out there that are still holding out for some Hail Mary technology from the Revolution. These conspiracy theorists and their constant postings will no doubt cause others to think the same way and be setup for dissapointment when the final Rev specs are announced.
Yup there is a huuuge difference between saying "I work for Nintendo and can tell you some facts" and taking an educated guess at what might be true. I never bought the projection theory for many reasons but Fal never claimed it was a fact, not even remotely. Serious gamer, Mr. Inc, Revealing the Revolution and all of the other immature kids out there make outright lies about who they are and what they know.
Also on the cell phone theory, it doesn't work with Nintendo's approach of gaming only. I think Nintendo would put in a webcam before anything like that, they've experimented with that kind of technology long before it was adapted by the pc using market.

I dont agree there at all.
All he has done is go through a load of facts plus other theories and try and come to the most logical conclusion/theory which is his opinion & speculation.
He has never said that there will definately be projection (well as far as I can recall) and to take it as a grain of salt.
Put it to you this way; if you had a inside source (legitimate) telling you that there is another secret that is larger than the controller as far as importantance is concerned, and the fact that there were many supporting 'vague' comments suggesting what has basically been the pure speculation only so far, what do you expect? The possible conclusion he came up with doesnt seem so illogical if you step in his shoes.
And after all this is a blog of speculation & discussion, it is up to the readers to come up with their own conclusion. If you have a difference of opinion (IALS) then there is no need to abuse him for it.
If he is wrong or right, it doesnt really matter because his pregoritive is not to bring down Nintendo or let fans get majorly disappointed and thereafter hate or dis Nintendo.
We are all Nintendo fans here so I dont know why such the hate unless you have other motives at hand (directed at IALS).
IALS is just IALS. I ignore him/her personally.
ials, you said that it was your last time responding to him, and yet you decided to double post to respond to him again.
Do you realize how funny you are?
Oh, in a stupid way.
Hey trip1eX!
I think you're right there about:
"I know not too exciting, but of every suggestion I've heard that's the only thing that keeps coming back."
the sentence "I know not too exciting" and "the only thing that keeps coming back" - is a perfect fit!
Nintendo's product and services always seem to hype everybody up(the gaming industry in general = good marketing) but then it turned out that it wasn't that special at all. They allso tend to use technologies and services that have had it days or atleast been out there but not really well received by the market. And after a well dune analysis they come up with that same tech/service with profitably (economicly) changes.
I would love to have the 3d-thing being utilysed by REV, but after a more an carfully thought, I believe that the truth might be closer to ground more than we think it is... :(
sorry for my bad spelling.

I disliked the manners of IALS from the first post, however i don't want to flame, i want only help all the audience remenber that in the name of the blog lies the word SPECULATION... No truth or lies only (really good and intelligent) speculation!
Keep up the good work Andreas!

Congratulations, Falafelkid ^_^
I wanna say Good Job but at the same time, maybe cuz your are busy but the lack of news for you fans has been disappointing, i hope you get to go to GDC but at the same time if you go this blog is not gonna be updated for the next 2 weeks. so if you will take the news from IGN that'll be a better choice.
Ooooh you said you had little time for the interview, and you probably new the the time you had gotten was half an hour, i wonder if asking us for questions was only advertisement for this exclussive... anyhow i hope the transcript comes soon and good luck with the expanding of your career...
transcript is here already ;-)
but i didn´t get the part if there is still a last secret... what in thw world does "when we talk about serets, you will know it is a machine" mean??
does the last secret involve something that makes it easier for "non gamers" to handle revolution?
but he declined the whole "3d projector" stuff, etc... with "we won´t make revolution so complicated"...
Hi everyone. Just to let you know the interview is up. There are, however, some passages that seem unclear, due to the on-the-fly translation. Certain passages will be translated more thoroughly in the future.
@Anonymous:
Falafel basically turned into SeriousGamer007, Osoko Tanaka, and any other blogger who got people's hopes up on phony speculation.
A ridiculous comment. You should read my blog, mate. I have always said that some kind of 3D projection, visor or goggles as an accessory is not likely. I have considered it a possibility and no more. I have always maintained that noone should get their hopes up. Get your facts right. I do.
@IALS: I have just about had enough of you. Stop pretending you contributed anything to this whole discussion - because you haven´t yet. Light Shedder my arse! Either join in... or remain the archetypal cyst that simply tacks on to other people´s ideas, for lack of your own. It´s your choice, pal.
Hi Coldblooder. That´s precisely what made me change my mind about those kind of theories. He really seemed to stress the approachability of the console, the ease of use and how it will sit comfortably next to the tv set. He mentioned television so many times, it seems he wanted to counter his earlier comments about ´breaking free from the confines´...
Hi Ass Muncher.
i wonder if asking us for questions was only advertisement for this exclussive...
Well, that is a justified concern and one I had myself. But please appreciate that I never promised that. I wrote:
I am currently compiling questions for the interview. What would you ask him? Feel free to leave suggestions, if you want. It makes me less likely to leave anything out and perhaps you will get your question answered.
I was simply asking for some help to prevent me from leaving important stuff out. Once the comments came in, I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount. Still, I tried to consider every comment. I mean look at how many people wanted to know about Twilight Princess. And just consider what I got out of him.
You´re making a fair point, though. If anyone feels cheated in this respect, I sincerely apologize.
Well, I forgot to thank Grandmaster, Luca, Brian and all the others who have defended me here. I am sure you understand what made me change my mind. It´s not even much of a change. I never said this was likely to happen. I merely saw it as a possibility - one that made a lot of sense, but also left many other questions unanswered. Now, I feel it´s a more remote possibility. I don´t see anything wrong with admitting that. Anyway, thank you all for your support.
Oh, and Anonymous:
If IGN never posted information about the underpowered Revolution, I'm sure he'd still be speculating that the last secret would've been some 3GHz dual core CPU with 512MB RAM.
In fact, I was the first to confirm that the Revolution was to be underpowered, speaking to developers at ´X05´. My post Revolution to be least powerful was the first to speculate about a launch price of $99 or $149 and was even picked up by Joystiq. Admittedly, beating my own drum here, again. But I never ever posted (or thought) that the Rev´s CPU would be able to compete with the PS3´s cell. Please read this blog more thoroughly.
I just read the transcript Falafelkid, and, lol, just let me say I think I understand how you got Miyamoto to talk about the Zelda-Rev functionality. In your second to last question, you said, something like, Zelda-Rev controller functionality had been practically confirmed. My guess is Miyamoto took that as confirmed and thought that he could elaborate on it a little more. I am sure your intention was not to decieve him, but I think that little turn of phrase turned out very well.

Forget about 3D projection or any of that stuff - it's not going to happen. When Rev comes out and all the fanboyz are crying in their milk, it will only be Nintendo's fault for fostering these rumors by talking about "secrets" and such bullshit like that. Nintendo is purposely screwing with you guyz to build hype and excitement, and in the end I believe this will only serve to harm Nintendo in the long-run by making a lot of fanboyz really pissed off, when they realize they've been participating in what ammounts to a wet-dream for 12 months.
Yes, everyone's going to listen to YOU. Of course we are.
hey anon^,
its been longer than 12 months for me. :(
@ IALS this is my last responce to you, even as Falafel has said you have never contributed anything to this blog, also note there was no phrase in my earlier comment that had anything to do with uncle howie or psychological records so once again you just made a fool out of your self, for now on i shall ignore your pathetic self.
@falafel, nice to see the transcript up, great job
Hi Blizz. Thanks.
Hi Anonym.
(...) it will only be Nintendo's fault for fostering these rumors by talking about "secrets" and such bullshit like that.
Let´s not forget one thing: There is another secret and it will be big, I have been told by a very reliable source. Judging from the interview, I am just less inclined to believe that it has anything to do with the Revolution outputting graphics on anything but a television. That doesn´t mean there is no other secret, though. There is - and it will be a big one.
For all you pathetic punkassmotherfucking Flafi asscrawlers(excuse my language but thats what it is) particurly Bitchiboy419 there you go:
Hat gesagt…
Hi Caligula. I know for a fact that there are still known unknowns concerning the Rev (in Rumsfeld´s words), i.e. unknown facts of which we know that we don´t know them. I certainly know, because I have been told first hand. I have also been told that the last secret will be bigger than the controller.
Hat gesagt…
Hi everyone. I´m at work, so not too much time. Let me make my opinion very clear, again. I know there is another secret and it will be bigger than the controller. After all, that´s hardly surprising, given the hype Nintendo generated with their mysterious comments so far.
Now, I strongly believe that the Rev will be a portable console. The size limits the hardware greatly, so they wouldn´t have designed it so small without a goos reason. So there must be some kind of way of viewing Revolution games ´on the go´.
There are numerous possibilities here and some are to do with 3D images: holographic projection, VR, AR... I wouldn´t say that 3D is likely, but it is certainly possible and could make a great deal of sense, looking at the evidence.
Hat gesagt…
Hi IALS.
Falafelkid I have proven it numerious times and I prove it again.
Sorry, but you have not proven anything of the sort, not even once. It´s a theory of yours and you are wrong.
Miyamoto and others have said numerous times that there is another secret. I have been told separately and I know it´s going to be bigger than the controller.
Hat gesagt…

here's your comment: "I´m not under NDA. I WISH I WAS. There are a few things I have been told in confidence and which I cannot make public."
sounds like you're trying to be grandiose.
Shall I explain that to you? I wish I knew something so important that I would have to have signed an NDA for it. It´s called self-criticism. Try it sometime.
"I have been told separately and I know it´s going to be bigger than the controller." -quoted from metaldave about you.
bigger than the controller, but "it´s really not that important", and "Of course I know. But since I can´t tell you what I know, I´m just telling you that it´s not that big a deal. That´s all." so why tell us then? trying to show off thats all.
Those two things are totally unrelated. I have been told about the Rev´s last secret being bigger than the controller. While I can´t tell you who told me, I have told you already and I have not been given any more details, of course.
I also know of one game that is in development of Revolution - and that I cannot talk about. But, like I said, it wouldn´t surprise anyone, really.
You might want to read my statements a bit closer before you start flaming. Try to be more constructive, please.

THATS what I was getting and nothing else!
If any of you fancy clowns calls this speculation then theres no doubt all your brains went bannanas ever since the womb I'm afraid
no way around it!
Matter of fact is Flafi refuses to access the situation up the present cause he knows very well he said things that put his credibility on the line so he rather draws the curtain over it like a fiend pulls a fast one...
I smell fanboy and it smells like ass nuff said.

wow its amusing how some people think they have proven something when in fact they have proven absolutly nothing at all, also note i guess some people just are not intelligent enough to understand the term "speculation" lol
also note there is no proof out there that the last is not bigger than the controller

yall need to shut up cause youre making this blog a pathetic little fight.

and if you're not young... then you're even more pitiful.

Fal,
I'm sure you've no doubt seen IGN's article claiming that NOE was the first to recieve the information from Shiggy.
http://revolution.ign.com/articles/696/696091p1.html
They do mention your article but they state you recieved this information after Shiggy talked to NOE.
I am a fan of your site and am, by no means, "attacking" you but your article did take a while to post, and I haven't seen any proof that yours came out first.
What do you say to this?
Hi Eithan. Thanks for the link. I did read that article and I am grateful to IGN for quoting ´Der Spiegel´ as the source. They do call my story a ´follow-up´, which is true with regard to the time it was posted. Who can prove that it was my interview that broke the story? Well, Nintendo can. They told me. Obviously, I had to be sure before stating it in my article. So feel free to write an email to NoE if you want to have proof beyond my word. But consider that my article had a little more detail than anyone else´s. If Miyamoto spoke to NoE first, why would he give me details that he didn´t give them?
Excellent points. I would also like to add that it is a "no-brainer" when comparing your word to that of IGN's. I certainly don't need any more proof. I mostly wanted to make sure that you knew IGN had quoted you.
Keep up the good work.
Falafelkid and All,
This is the infamous truth spewing D-Bone!!!
First and foremost, great job on the interview. You're a lucky dude to even have met Miyamoto, much less interview him.
Now, let’s get down to business. It's time to bring things into perspective.
-Is this a blog? Yes.
-Can Falafelkid say and believe anything on it he wants? Yes
-Does this blog allow comments on blog entries? Yes
-Should the comment makers be allowed to say and believe anything they want on it? Yes
So why all the fuss???
1. Let Falafelkid decide who and who’s not comments should be allowed on this blog. If something is crude and ridiculous, he has the power to delete comments. If he hasn't, don't make it your business. Falafelkid does a great job of letting everyone have their own opinion and voice. Rarely does he sensor.
2. Understand that sometimes perception is more important than semantics. Many are guilty here of trying to keep their semantics open ended and non-committal, for reasons I believe to save face, Falafelkid included. Much of this stems from the SPECULATION of projection technology. While Falafelkid has semantically avoided committing to projection, I know in his heart of hearts he thought it was really going to happen. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I disagreed from day 1. I "kept the door open" semantically for projection technology, because anything is possible, but I made it very clear my hard stance was no projection. I, along with others, very much perceived Falafelkid as having a hard stance for projection technology, regardless of his semantical statements leaving the door open for the secret to be anything else.
So, you need facts, here you go.
A) He used circumstantial evidence that defied logic to convince himself of the projection technology. His evidence was a smaller machine, quotes from executives, and no game footage. I'm sure in hindsight, with this recent interview, he is looking through the same pair of glasses I was looking through then and now. Those claims were farfetched and a little ridiculous. We tried to tell him otherwise, but he refused to believe. His commitment and desire for it clouded his judgment, I believe.
B) He always persisted on bringing projection technology up. For example, read posts in the past to where he more than less admitted he was honing in on projection technology. (I'll be more than happy to go through the archives and quote it if requested, but those who have been following this for awhile know exactly what I'm talking about) Go back and read the round table he did a few weeks back. Notice how quickly he brought up the projection technology. Now, look at the Miyamoto interview. They were all great questions, but the one that just had to be slipped in there and actually came off awkward to me, was about projection technology. Regardless of semantics, THAT is perception. I see right through you. You can say all you want about how you thought it was unlikely, but I know what is really going on.
3. Everyone relax, Falafelkid has provided us Nintendo fans top-of-the-line information and entertainment for free...and I say thank you for that.
With all of that said, I am a big Falafelkid fan. 90% of the time I agree and think his information and ideals are accurate, responsible, and sensible, but the whole projection thing to me was his Achilles heal. It almost hurt me every time he pushed it out there. It's like seeing someone you respect get drunk and spew out non-sense...it makes you cringe.
Free speech is a beautiful thing, but with it comes responsibility. Each of us must understand that we can say anything we want, but there are repercussions, such as negative feedback to comments that are a little "out there", you, me, and Falafelkid included. Falafelkid has made some comments that have been a little out there, and we responded to those comments, and he handled it all very well. Do not hate if they don't agree, do not hate if you don't agree.
Also to all, stop using this buzzword "speculation" as your wild card for conversation dominance.
Speculation is good, but baseless speculation deserves everything it gets...and it got it.
Thank you for your time,
D-Bone

Thats exactly how I felt D-Bone well said -I totally agree with you!
Nevertheless Im still fed up to the back theeth
about him insisting on a so called fact but then suddenly changing his mind after the interview and leaving us in the mist..

@IALS
I'm pretty sure there is more than one person making IALS comments these days, but my advice to you is to relax and not get too worked up about it. I've sensed the backpeddling also, to a certain degree, but nothing to harp on. We're all not perfect, take the good with the bad. Here it is mostly good.
D-Bone
Congratulations on the exclusive, Falafelkid.
Miyamoto's responses to the portability and last secret questions are really interesting. It seems that the Revolution was made tiny for aesthetics instead of portability. Though I find that difficult to believe, Apple also seems to cram its technology into small spaces for stylistic effect (in their non-portables/desktops).
Miyamoto also stressed 3D glasses/visors are too complicated for the average consumer. I think by these responses alone, visors, projectors, and all other displays besides the TV set can be, more or less, dismissed.
Hi There, I just spent a little time reading through your
posts, which I found entirely by mistake whilst researching one of
my projects. Please continue to write more because it’s unusual that someone has
something interesting to say about this. Will be waiting for more!

Twenty-five years ago, I spent six months flat on my back with a dislocated disk, unable to much of anything but nap & read. One day, my once-a-week cleaning woman was dusting my bedroom, and she paused as she picked up a paperback copy of "Bleak House" that was lying near my sickbed. She looked at the cover, which showed a painting of a woman in an somberly decorated 1880s interior, then looked around. "Looks like this place."
The room in the painting was much more elegant than mine, but I took her words as a compliment. "That's a really great book" I told her.
She turned the book over & looked at the blurb on the back. "Is it true? she asked.
"Actually, it's a novel."
"I see. So it didn't actually happen?"
"Well, no. It's a novel."
She made sort of a face. "So it's just made-up storying..."
"Well, yes, basically."
She put the book back down & wiped her hands on her apron, like they were soiled and looked at me like I was a spoiled child. "Then I wouldn't be interested. I don't read things that aren't true." If she could have sent me to bed for the day, she would have, but I was already there.
